A method of, and apparatus for, aligning an ophthalmic instrument relative to an eye is disclosed, and can include aligning an esthesiometer with a patient's eye. The method can include steps of: directing a beam of light from an ophthalmic instrument to an eye; taking, at a plurality of locations around the beam, measurements of reflections of the light from the eye; determining the position of the ophthalmic instrument relative to the eye from the measurements; and moving the ophthalmic instrument relative to the eye from the determined position to a desired position. The apparatus can include an aperture, a source of collimated light, a plurality of detectors, and a control unit. The control unit determines a position of the ophthalmic instrument relative to the eye and can move relative positions of the ophthalmic instrument and the eye from a determined position to a desired position.

Alignment system for ophthalmic instrument

A system for preparing and analyzing a sample of biological material, including a test cartridge having a first housing defining a flow-through chamber, a second housing defining a central space within which the first housing is at least partially located. The first housing is rotatable relative to the second housing, and the second housing defines a plurality of circumferentially spaced chambers, one of the chambers having an inlet for receiving a sample, at least one of the chambers containing a liquid reagent, and at least one of the chambers comprising an analysis module, the chambers of the second housing each having an opening into the central space. The first housing has one or more openings into the central space so that openings can be selectively aligned with one of the openings into the chambers of the second housing by relative rotation of the first housing and second housings.

Method and apparatus for analysing a biological sample

A telecommunications card which includes a cavity in which an antenna structure is movably mounted between a first position in which the antenna structure is substantially located within the cavity and a second position in which the antenna structure is extended from the cavity, the telecommunications card further including moving mechanism for moving the antenna structure from the first position to the second position, the antenna structure comprising a slide portion and an antenna portion which are movably connected to each other, wherein the antenna structure further including an erecting mechanism for erecting the antenna portion from the second position to a third position suitable for wireless communication with a telecommunications network.
