Features described herein generally relate to enhancing functionality of electronic devices. Particularly, a notification is received from a wearable device that includes a position of the wearable device within an area, a determination is made that the wearable device is located within a predetermined distance from a controllable device, a graphical user interface page that includes buttons is sent to the wearable device, an indication that a button of the buttons has been activated is received from the wearable device, and a command signal that includes an instruction is sent to the controllable device. In this way, functionality of electronic devices can be extended with wearable devices.

System and method for enhancing functionality of electronic devices

Methods and systems for filtering content include identifying content for presenting in a rendering space defined by one or more mechanisms of a head mounted display (HMD), wherein the content is interactive, streaming content. A rating score for the content is identified. The content is dynamically adjusted to selectively filter a portion of the content based on a user profile of the user, rating score of the content, and ongoing interactions detected at the content. The adjusted content is formatted for rendering on the HMD. The formatted content is automatically transmitted to the HMD for rendering, in response to the request.

Control of personal space content presented via head mounted display

A system and controller are provided. In one example, the system includes a controller for playing a video game. The controller includes input buttons for controlling interaction during play of the video game. The controller includes an inertial sensor for detecting translational or rotational movement of the controller and a vibrational device. A voice input device is associated with the controller. A wireless communication circuit of the controller is provided for communicating data between the controller and a local computing device. The local computing device is connectable to a network. The data includes control responsive to presses of said input buttons or control received from said voice input device.

Voice command controller for communicating with a gaming system

A method, system, computer readable media and cloud systems are provided. In one example a method includes generating a virtual reality (VR) environment to be rendered for a head mounted display (HMD) of an HMD player during a session. The HMD player is provided with an HMD view that is controlled by movement of a character in the VR environment by the HMD player. The method includes providing a spectator view into the VR environment. The spectator view is associated with a viewing spot directed into the VR environment. Then, automatically moving said viewing spot of the spectator view to other viewing spots that follow the character in the VR environment. Moving the viewing spot of the spectator view has a delay in movement to follow the HMD view, and said delay in movement does not delay time progress for the session.

A system and method is provided for generating a modified Cartesian representation of received data. In some aspects, a Cartesian graph may be transformed to form a modified Cartesian representation by connecting a first end and second end of the Cartesian graph. In further aspects, a pattern may be overlaid over the modified Cartesian representation to produce an artistic representation.

A method, system, computer readable media and cloud systems are provided for generating views of a virtual reality environment for a spectator. One example method includes enabling a spectator to view into a virtual reality environment, and control what specific content within the environment the spectator wishes to see. Motions of an HMD worn by an HMD player can be tracked so as to provide a geared spectator view into the virtual reality environment. The gearing of the spectator view enables a spectator to view the virtual reality content in a more normal way which is not tied to the strict movements of the HMD worn by the HMD player. The gearing effects can be programmable or can be set based on the content being navigated by the HMD player or preferences of the individual spectators.

Spectator view tracking of virtual reality (VR) user in VR environments

A method, system, computer readable media and cloud systems are provided for generating views of a virtual reality environment for a spectator. One example method includes generating a virtual reality environment to be rendered for a head mounted display (HMD) of an HMD player. The HMD player is provided with an HMD view that is controlled by movement of the HMD by the HMD player. Then, providing a spectator view into the virtual reality environment. The spectator view is associated with a viewing spot directed into the virtual reality environment. The viewing spot is decoupled from the HMD view. In some examples, multiple viewing spots are pre-authored and the spectator is provided with different ones of the viewing spots as the HMD players move around the virtual reality environment.

A method for managing multi-player interactivity with an interactive application is provided, including the following operations: determining locations of a first controller, a second controller, a first user, and a second user; pairing the first controller to the first user based on the location of the first controller and the location of the first user; pairing the second controller to the second user based on the location of the second controller and the location of the second user; presenting a split-screen view of the interactive application, wherein presenting the split-screen view includes setting positions of a first view and a second view within the split-screen view based on one or more of the locations of the first user, the second user, the first controller, or the second controller.

A method is provided, including the following operations: presenting on a display device a virtual scene including a virtual character, the display device disposed in a local environment; providing a view of the local environment through a head-mounted display, the view through the head-mounted display including the display device and the virtual scene being presented thereon; animating the virtual character to show the virtual character moving from the virtual scene presented on the display device to the local environment as viewed through the head-mounted display, wherein the animating includes transitioning, from rendering the virtual character as part of the virtual scene presented on the display device, to rendering the virtual character as an augmented element in the view of the local environment provided through the head-mounted display.

An invention is provided for affording a real-time three-dimensional interactive environment using a depth sensing device. The invention includes obtaining depth values indicating distances from one or more physical objects in a physical scene to a depth sensing device. The depth sensing device is configurable to be maintained at a particular depth range defined by a plane so that objects between the particular depth range and the depth sensing device are processed by the depth sensing device, wherein the particular depth range establishes active detection by the depth sensing device, as depth values of objects placed through the particular depth range and toward the depth sensing device are detected and depth values of objects placed beyond the particular depth range are not detected. The objects placed through the particular depth range are rendered and displayed in a virtual scene based on geometric characteristics of the object itself.

User-driven three-dimensional interactive gaming environment

A controller is provided. A controller body to be held by a user, the controller body includes an input mechanism for receiving control inputs, an accelerometer for detecting translational or rotational movement of the controller body, and a vibrational device for providing vibration. The controller further includes a light for tracking by a camera, a voice input device and a wireless communication module. The wireless communication module communicates data between the controller and a computer for driving interaction with the video game. The data communicated between the controller and the computer includes control inputs and voice inputs from the voice input device.

A method for use in obtaining input data from an object includes capturing a live image of the object with an image capture device, receiving information related to a tilt angle of the object from one or more sensors other than the image capture device, using the information related to a tilt angle of the object to obtain at least one rotated reference image of the object, comparing the live image of the object with the rotated reference image of the object, and generating an indication in response to the live image matching the rotated reference image. An apparatus and a storage medium storing a computer program executable by a processor based system are also disclosed
