The present invention is generally directed towards a headlight assembly installed in a motor vehicle. The headlight assembly includes a reflector member, and a light source. The reflector member is coated with a first layer of a highly reflective material to reflect the light emitted by the light source. In order to protect the first layer from oxidation, a second layer of an organic carbon compound free of electronegative compound is deposited on top of the first layer.

Headlight assembly

A liquid spray for depositing a coating on a surface of a substrate includes a support bracket and a liquid atomizer operatively connected to the support bracket to spray a liquid spray system also includes an auxiliary air nozzle operatively connected to the support bracket to spray a stream of air to meet the liquid spray just above the surface of the substrate. The support bracket is positioned at a predetermined angle relative to the surface of the substrate for depositing a liquid spray coating on the surface of the substrate.

Liquid spray system for depositing coatings on substrates

The invention is a substrate having a surface coated with a singular metal oxide film wherein the metal consists essentially of titanium and tin and the film is made from a liquid mixture of a titanate, a tin compound, and an anhydrous organic liquid. The substrate may be glass and the film applied by pyrolytic decomposition of the liquid mixture in air. Preferably, the film has a refractive index of greater than 2.2 and no visible light absorption to give it an optimal neutral appearance.

Highly reflective, durable titanium/tin oxide films

This invention is directed to a glass substrate having deposited thereon an electroconductive coating useful for defrosting the glass. The coating comprises three layers. The first layer deposited on the glass is selected from the group consisting essentially of: (a) silicon oxide and (b) silicon nitride and it is deposited on at least a portion of a surface of the glass substrate. The second layer comprises an electrically conductive material selected from the group consisting essentially of (a) aluminum doped zinc oxide and (b) gallium doped zinc oxide. It is deposited on at least a portion of the first layer in a thickness of at least 1 micron. This second layer has a sheet resistance of less than 20 ohms per square. A third layer comprising a protective material is deposited on and is at least coextensive with the second layer. It is deposited in a thickness of at least 10 microns and is selected from the group of materials consisting essentially of: (a) fluorine doped tin oxide, and (b) silicon nitride. This third layer has a refractive index within 10% of that of the second layer.
