The disclosure relates to an adhesive composition for bonding lignocellulosic substrates. The adhesive composition contains a crosslinker and a non-urea diluent where the non-urea diluent is present in an amount from about 0.01 to about 75 weight % based on the total wet weight of the composition and where the crosslinker contains essentially no formaldehyde. Also disclosed is the adhesive further containing. an aqueous mixture of a protein source. The disclosure also relates to a process for making lignocellulosic composites utilizing the disclosed adhesive composition and to the lignocellulosic composites made using the disclosed process.

Curable and cured organosilicon compositions

A reactive component, which is curable to form a nonpolar polymer containing silicon and carbon atoms, and having a glass transition temperature of at least 20.degree. C., is mixed with an antiplasticizer. The resulting mixture, a curable composition, is cured to form a composition having an increased modulus. The reactive component preferably comprises a polyene having at least two hydrosilation reactive carbon-carbon double bonds (e.g., dicyclopentadiene), and a silicon compound having at least two hydrosilation reactive .ident.SiH groups. Preferably the silicon compound comprising at least one member selected from the group consisting of cyclic polysiloxanes, tetrahedral siloxysilanes, and linear polysiloxanes. Preferably the resulting cured composition is crosslinked, due to at least one member selected from the group consisting of the polyene and the silicon compound having more than two hydrosilation reactive sites. Preferably the curable composition further comprises a hydrosilation catalyst.

Nonpolar polymers comprising antiplasticizers

This invention is directed to a polymeric composition comprising (a) a continuous phase of a cross-linked organosilicon polymer comprised of alternating (i) polycyclic hydrocarbon residues derived from polycyclic polyenes having at least two non-aromatic, non-conjugated carbon-carbon double bonds in their rings and (ii) residues derived from the group consisting of cyclic polysiloxanes and tetrahedral siloxysilanes, linked through carbon to silicon bonds, and (b) a discontinuous phase of a low molecular weight hydrocarbon elastomer having at least two hydrosilation reactable carbon-carbon double bonds. In addition, this invention is directed to a prepolymer composition comprising (a) a hydrosilation cross-linkable organosilicon prepolymer which is the partial reaction product of (i) polycyclic polyenes having at least two non-aromatic, non-conjugated hydrosilation reactive carbon-carbon double bonds in their rings and (ii) cyclic polysiloxanes or tetrahedral siloxsilanes having at least two hydrosilation reactive .tbd.SiH groups wherein at least one of (i) or (ii) has at least three reactive groups, and (b) hydrocarbon elastomer having at least two hydrosilation reactable carbon-carbon double bonds.

Organosilicon compositions containing hydrocarbon elastomers

This invention is directed to a composition comprising (A) a continuous phase of (i) a crosslinked organosilicon polymer or crosslinkable organosilicon prepolymer comprising alternating (a) cyclic polysiloxane or tetrahedral siloxysilane residues and (b) polycyclic hydrocarbon residues derived from polycyclic polyenes having at least two non-aromatic, non-conjugated carbon-carbon double bonds in their rings linked through carbon to silicon bonds, wherein at least one of the cyclic polysiloxanes or tetrahedral siloxysilanes (a) or the polycyclic polyenes (b) used to form the polymer or prepolymer has more than two reactive sites; or (ii) a crosslinked or crosslinkable linear poly(organohydrosiloxane) polymer having at least 30% of its .tbd.SiH groups reacted to hydrocarbon residues derived from polycyclic polyenes having at least two non-aromatic, non-conjugated carbon-carbon double bonds in their rings; and (B) a discontinuous phase of a low molecular weight siloxane elastomer having at least two hydrosilation reactable carbon-carbon double bonds.
