An imaging system includes an analog-to-digital converter configured to convert an analog pixel value into a first digital pixel value. The imaging system also includes an index value source configured to receive the first digital pixel value from the analog-to-digital converter and to generate a digital index value based on a comparison of the first digital pixel value to a digital reference value. In addition, the imaging system includes a transmitter in communication with the index value source and configured to transmit the digital index value. Further, the imaging system includes an image processing component configured to receive the digital index value and to generate a second digital pixel value based at least in part on the received digital index value and a lookup table of the image processing component.

System and method for image compression in X-ray imaging systems

The present disclosure presents systems and methods for correcting image artifacts on an x-ray image. X-ray images are obtained and processed with a correction algorithm that generates corrected pixel lines having pixels with corrected pixel values. The corrected pixel lines can then be processed with a filtering algorithm that generates filtered pixel line having pixels with a filtered pixel value. The bad pixel lines are replaced by the filtered pixel lines to generate corrected x-ray images.

The present invention provides for an x-ray system and method using dynamic automated spatial modulation of an x-ray beam. The system includes an x-ray source transmitting a spatially modulated beam towards an object to be imaged, an x-ray detector receiving the beam and measuring a plurality of intensities across the beam, a beam processor controlling the beam intensity profile, and an image processor producing an output image signal. The detector produces a residual image based on at least the intensities measured at the detector. The beam intensity profile may be based on at least some of the following: (a) the residual image from the x-ray detector, (b) current beam intensities, (c) regions on interest in the image, and (d) predicted or measured object motion in the image. The system's output image is based on one or more of said residual image and said beam intensity signal.

System and method for an adaptive morphology x-ray beam in an x-ray system

A system an method for determining the Dose Area Product (DAP) in an X-ray imaging system is provided. The present system constructs a pre-determined parameter space describing the DAP contour over ranges of typical imaging parameters. Later, when the employed in clinical imaging, a DAP processor on board the imaging system received a set of the imaging parameters being employed. The DAP applies the set of parameters to the parameter space to interpolate the DAP being delivered by the clinical imaging system. The present system may be individually calibrated to a specific X-ray imaging system to provide more optimal DAP values. Additionally, in imaging system employing an asymmetric shutter, such as a one-leaf shutter, the present system may determine a rotational scale factor for the DAP based on the rotation of the shutter. The rotational scale factor may also be calibrated to an individual X-ray imaging system.

System and method for determining dose area product in an X-ray imaging system

Apparatus for cooling charge-coupled device (CCD) imaging systems. The apparatus comprises a thermoelectric cooler thermally coupled to the imaging system for transferring heat away from and cooling the imaging system portion of the imaging system. The thermoelectric cooler has a cold side and an opposing hot side, with the cold side thermally coupled to the imaging sensor to enable the transfer of heat from the sensor in response to a supply of power. A power supply is coupled to the cooler for supplying required power. The hot side of the cooler is thermally coupled to a heat pipe, which is composed of a heat-conducting material having a hollow portion containing a wicking material and a working fluid. A heat sink is thermally coupled to the heat pipe enabling heat dissipation. The working fluid cyclically evaporates into vapor and condenses into liquid to effect the heat transfer from the heat pipe to the heat sink.

Apparatus for cooling charge coupled device imaging systems

A mobile X-ray machine utilizes batteries to provide electrical power to produce high-voltage necessary to generate X-rays during a X-ray exposure. A battery charger circuit is used to supplement the battery during the X-ray exposure and charges the batteries during non-exposure periods. By using batteries to power the X-ray generating device, the X-ray machine is capable of being operated from 110 volt AC power sources permitting the machine to be mobile due to its ability of being operated from ordinary house current.

Battery enhanced power generation for mobile X-ray machine

A dynamic calibration and self-check circuit for a mobile X-ray machine. A high voltage regulator circuit provides dynamic regulation of peak anode voltage and a tube current regulator circuit provides dynamic regulation of the X-ray filament current which controls the X-ray tube current. In the regulation of the anode voltage, a voltage sensor provides continuous feedback of the actual anode voltage of the tube to the regulation circuit. A processor selects a predetermined value for the pulse width duration of the high voltage regulator. When an exposure cycle commences, the preselective value is compared with the actual sensed value in an error amplifier. The error amplifier generates an error signal which varies the pulse width of the drive signal to control the peak high voltage to the anode. In the control of the tube current, a sensor which measures the actual tube current is compared with a predetermined value selected by the processor in a second error amplifier. Also, a pulse width modulator provides a filament driving signal of a preselected duration. A regulator circuit accepts a filament amplitude control signal and causes the regulator to control the amplitude of the filament drive signal during the preheat phase prior to the X-ray exposure. Once the exposure cycle commences, the error signal is coupled to the regulator and the amplitude of the filament drive signal is adjusted dynamically to maintain a desired filament temperature.
