An antenna unit includes a case having a base and a lid. An antenna assembly is located within the lid and is IP67 compliant, being waterproof. The antenna assembly can provide antennas located on one or more baseplates that are positioned within the top cover of the box. A baseplate can act as a heatsink, a reflector, and/or a ground plane, for the antennas while the cover is closed and in the locked position. The antennas have been designed and optimized to work on a baseplate and designed to operate with the thick plastic cover of the box. A plurality of antenna components are situated within the base separate from the antenna assembly. An optional barrier is located within the base to divide the antenna components from the lid. The antenna assembly include different types of antennas operable at least between 600 MHz to 39 GHz. The lid is separable from the base and is divided from other components to minimize interference so that all antennas may operate simultaneously while the lid is in a closed position.

This disclosure relates to electrical connectors that exhibit low passive intermodulation. A conductive shielding layer of a coaxial cable can be coupled to a ground plane. The ground plane can include an extruded hole that includes a side wall that is integrally formed with the body of the ground plane. The conductive shielding layer can be soldered to the inside surface of the side wall of the extruded hole in the ground plane.

This disclosure relates to chokes for suppressing undesired signals such as such as common mode electromagnetic interference (EMI) and/or radio frequency interference (RFI). The chokes can include an electro-conductive sleeve disposed over an electrical cable and the sleeve can be configured to suppress an undesired signal. In some embodiments, the electro-conductive sleeve and have a half-wave sleeve, which can be electrically open at both ends. Additional insulating material can be included between the electrical cable and the sleeve. Multiple electro-conductive sleeves and be disposed substantially concentrically over the cable. The chokes can be configured to reduce passive intermodulation (PIM). The sleeve can have a longitudinal slot that extends the length of the sleeve. The sleeve can include multiple slots that separate the sleeve into multiple panels, which can be configured to suppress different signals.

An apparatus for enabling a base station to transmit radio frequency signals with a transmit diversity technique comprises a first antenna implemented in the base station; and a second antenna implemented in the base station, and placed apart from the first antenna by a predetermined distance. The first antenna utilizes a first frequency band of a predetermined frequency spectrum for transmitting signals, and the second antenna utilizes a second frequency band of the predetermined frequency spectrum for transmitting signals. The first and second frequency bands do not overlap.

A system is disclosed for providing a new panel antenna array with enhanced environmental protection, increased reliability and simplified assembly through the incorporation of new array structures. In one embodiment, a panel antenna array system comprises one or more linear arrays having one or more radiating elements for providing antenna transmission and reception; and one or more protection modules to be aligned vertically with each other in a parallel fashion, with each protection module providing protection to one linear array. A mounting bracket further provides a mounting surface to the protection modules.

A system and method improves linearly-polarized microstrip patch antenna performance and fabrication through the incorporation of a pin fin ground plane and an integral antenna feed assembly. In one embodiment, a patch antenna system includes an antenna area with a patch antenna that provides radio communications. A heat dissipation member is coupled to the antenna area and includes a plurality of pins that provide for both the dissipation of heat from the antenna area and a ground plane for the antenna area. An antenna feed line is further coupled with the antenna patch for providing an electrical connection from the antenna patch to other electronic circuitries, such as a wireless device that may be mechanically coupled to the heat dissipation member. Heat generated during the operation of the wireless device is directed to ambient air by way of the heat dissipation member.

The antenna includes a plurality of dipole sub-arrays each sub-array comprising four dipole elements arranged in a diamond shape. Two dipole elements in each sub-array are arranged at an angle of approximately plus 45 degrees from the earth's surface to form a plus 45 degree polarized dipole element array and the other two dipole elements are arranged at an angle of minus 45 degrees from the earth's surface to form a minus 45 degree polarized dipole element array. The dipole elements are arranged such that the phase centers of one plus 45 degree dipole element and one minus 45 degree element line up along a first substantially vertical line and the phase centers of the remaining plus 45 degree and minus 45 degree dipole element line up along a second substantially vertical line.
