A non-pneumatic tire comprising one or more radial regions have differing Shore A/Shore D hardness. The non-pneumatic tire comprises side cavities that are staggered with respect to laterally opposing side cavities, and laterally extending tread grooves that are in substantial radial alignment with or substantially offset relative to the cavities. One radial region may comprising the side cavities, while another radial region with a different hardness comprises the tread grooves. Also provided are processes for making such tires and to off-the-road (OTR) vehicles employing such tires.

Multiple hardness non-pneumatic tire

A geometric shaped side bearing pad includes a top and a surface extending an angle &#x3b8; towards the top, wherein the bearing pad has a geometric shape and a non-linear spring rate which levels out a reaction force without buckling. The surface of the bearing pad can have two sides or four sides, can have spacing within the surface, or can be solid. The angle &#x3b8; can be within the range of about 20 degrees and 85 degrees, and may preferably be within the range of about 30 degrees and 45 degrees to achieve non-linear load/deflection. The top of the bearing pad can have a slot defined therethrough to accommodate a protrusion in a fixture to engage the bearing pad. The bearing pad can provide a friction contact with an object and enables lateral force transfer to the bearing pad, thereby providing lateral stiffness.

Geometric shaped side bearing pad

A non-pneumatic tire comprising side cavities that are staggered with respect to laterally opposing side cavities, and laterally extending tread grooves that are either in substantial radial alignment with the cavities or substantially offset relative to the cavities. The tread grooves have at least one wall that is angled with respect to the radial direction, i.e., the direction relative to the tire's axis of rotation. The wall may be an open angle having an angle of 5&#xb0; to 65&#xb0; relative to the radial direction. Also provided are processes for making such tires and to off-the-road (OTR) vehicles employing such tires.

A non-pneumatic tire comprising side cavities that are staggered with respect to laterally opposing side cavities, and laterally extending tread grooves that are in substantial radial alignment with the cavities. In another embodiment, the invention is to a tire comprising side ribs that are staggered with respect to laterally opposing side ribs, and laterally extending tread grooves that are substantially offset relative to the side ribs. Also provided are processes for making such tires and to off-the-road (OTR) vehicles employing such tires.

In a side bearing pad assembly two housings are provided, each having a bore of such size and orientation that the housings slide telescopically one within the other. When assembled the bores constitute a single internal cavity which houses resilient members. Each housing is mounted onto a load bearing member. The biasing resilient members urge the load bearing members apart when a compressive load is imposed on either of such members. The resilient members respond in a non-linear manner to force exerted on them.

High friction polyurethane elastomers having improved abrasion resistance

A sway bar bushing made from elastomeric material of substantially uniform thickness having a generally cylindrical inner part and a generally cylindrical outer part coaxially surrounding said inner part. A plurality of equiangularly spaced apart and radially disposed spokes provide integral connection between the inner and outer parts and extend radially therebetween. The inner and outer parts are of substantially identical length and connected along the entire lengths thereof by the spokes. The inner part defines a bore for complementing an associated portion of a sway bar received therein.

Non-linear spring rate sway bar bushing

An elastomeric spring system having non-linear force-deflection characteristics and low rebound is provided. The system comprises a housing and a plurality of first and second spring members movably disposed in alternating relationship within a bore defined by the housing. The first and second spring members are preferably formed from polyurethane such as the two part castable urethanes made from polyether-isocyanate or polyester-isocyanate prepolymers cured with organic diamine or polyol materials. When subject to a force along the axis of deflection, the first spring member is adapted to expand and progressively envelope the second spring members until the hemispherical ends of two of the first spring members meet within the first spring member, thereby causing the force-deflection characteristics of the spring to be nonlinear.

Elastomeric spring system

A skip car liner comprises a resilient elastomeric barrier which includes a backing ply adapted to hang within a skip car receptacle adjacent an inner surface of a wall of the receptacle. A plurality of parallel vertically spaced apart ribs integrally formed on the barrier project downwardly and inwardly from the inner surface of the backing ply and extend along the entire length of the ply. The ribs terminate at free ends disposed within a common plane parallel to and spaced from the inner surface of the backing ply. A horizontally spaced apart series of slits formed in each rib extend from the backing ply through the rib to and through its free end. The slits divide each rib into a plurality of discrete rib sections, each rib section being supported on the backing ply for independent deflection relative to the backing ply.

Skip car liner

An industrial solid tire for heavy-load, off-road use having a cast polyurethane tire thereon is produced by a batch method. The tire is a heat cured polyurethane produced from a dispersion of a prepolymer, a curative and an amount of a silicone dispersing and lubricant agent. The amount of silicone is between 1.0 and 4.0 parts per hundred of the prepolymer. A method for manufacturing the tire is included.

A vibration isolating mount for use with a vibratory pile driver and extractor is comprised of a pair of identical plates that are spaced from each and are interconnected by a polyether-based urethane center member. Each of the plates are provided with pluralities of attachment holes for attaching the vibration isolating mount between an exciter and a suspension housing of a vibratory pile driver and extractor. Each of the plates is also provided with pluralities of lug holes that are filled with the polyether-based urethane of the center member and provide a mechanical connection between the plates and the center member in addition to a chemical bond adhering the plates to the center member. The structural characteristics of the vibration isolating mount and the polyether-based urethane employed in constructing the mounts provide a vibration isolating mount that is capable of sustaining larger shear stress forces than prior art mounts and is more capable of resisting deterioration by exposure to the environment than are prior art vibration isolating mounts.

Vibration isolating mount for vibratory pile driver and extractor

An ether-based polyurethane article comprises a toluene diisocyanate-terminated polyether polyol prepolymer cured with a blended polyester polyol/diamine curative. The article may be made by mixing a toluene diisocyanate-terminated polyether polyol prepolymer with a blended polyester polyol/diamine curative to form a reaction mixture. A suitably shaped mold is preheated and filled with the reaction mixture with sufficient pressure to displace air in the mold. The reaction mixture is held in the preheated mold to cure the reaction mixture and form the article. The cast article is removed from the mold and post-cured to complete the chemical cross-linking reaction.
