A vehicle suspension arrangement includes a mounting bracket, a trailing arm, an air spring assembly configured to bias a second end of the trailing arm from a vehicle frame member, an axle assembly couple to the trailing arm, and a trailing arm connection assembly that includes a connector having a first portion received within an aperture of the mounting bracket, and a second portion extending outwardly from the first portion and including an aperture, a bushing member received within a first end of the trailing arm, a pin member received within the bushing member and including a first aperture, and a first mechanical fastener received within the first aperture of the pin member and within the aperture of the second portion of the first connector, thereby pivotably securing the trailing arm to the mounting bracket.

A vehicle suspension assembly includes providing an axle assembly having a first end including a first mounting structure and a second end, providing a first bearing block and a second bearing block, forming a first aperture in the first bearing block and a second aperture in the second bearing block, attaching the first and second bearing blocks to the first mounting structure subsequent to forming the first and second apertures; and providing a first spindle assembly coupled to the first mounting structure by a first spherical bearing located within the first aperture and a second spherical bearing located within the second aperture, wherein a first kingpin assembly extends through the first and second spherical bearings, thereby coupling the first spindle with the first mounting structure.

Auxiliary axle and suspension assembly

A vehicle suspension assembly includes an axle member movable between a first position and a second position, mounting brackets adapted to couple to a vehicle frame assembly, trailing arms pivotably coupled to mounting brackets and pivotably coupled to the axle member, a lift arrangement including a pair of diaphragm chambers each having a push plate and a flexible bladder, the push plate of the diaphragm chamber dividing the associated diaphragm chamber into a first compartment and a second compartment, the first compartment of each diaphragm chamber being adjustably pressurized to move the push plate of the associated diaphragm chamber, and at least one push rod defining a single longitudinal axis and connected to each push plate such that pressurization of the diaphragm chambers cause a translational movement of the at least one push rod, thereby causing the axle member to move between the first and second positions.

A vehicle suspension assembly includes first and second mounting brackets each adapted to couple to a vehicle frame assembly, first and second trailing arms each having a first end pivotably coupled to the mounting brackets, and a second end located outboard of the first end of the associated trailing arm; an axle member having a first end and a second end; an integrated first mounting arrangement and an integrated second mounting arrangement coupled to the associated ends of the axle member, wherein the mounting arrangements pivotably couple the second end of the associated trailing arm to one of the ends of the axle member, and wherein the mounting arrangements couple one of the ends of the axle member to the spindle assembly.

An air driven actuator () uses oppositely disposed reciprocating air drivers () to cause a single ratchet () to rotate via a drive plate () and a pawl (). The ratchet () rotates a drive tube () that can further extend or retract landing gear on a semi-trailer.

A vehicle suspension assembly that includes first and second main beams each having a first end operably coupled to a vehicle frame, and a second end having a cavity formed therein, and first and second extension members each having an aperture extending therethrough, wherein the first and second extensions are interference-fit within and extend outwardly from the cavity of the first and second main beams, respectively. The assembly further including a torsion member having apertured first and second ends that receive the first and second extension members therein, and threaded mechanical fasteners extending through the apertures of the first and second extension members and engage nuts that are frictionally engaged by the first and second main beams.

Vehicle suspension assembly

A height control valve is preferably adapted to be mounted in a trailing arm suspension and fluidly interconnected to a source of pressurized air and to an air spring. The height control valve comprises a housing having a cylindrical bore, a supply port, an exhaust port and an air spring port each of which extends through the housing and fluidly communicates with the bore. A rotor is preferably rotatably mounted in the bore and interconnected to the arm wherein pivotal movement of the arm rotates the rotor with respect to the housing between first, second and third rotational positions. A plurality of seals is preferably located between the rotor and the bore defining a flow passage between the bore and the rotor wherein in the first rotational position, the flow passage isolates the air spring port from both the supply port and the exhaust port, in the second rotational position the flow passage interconnects the air spring port with the supply port, and in the third rotational position the flow passage interconnects the air spring port with the exhaust port.

A vibration dampening assembly and a suspension system for use, for example, between a cab and a flame of a truck, has a link with a first end pivotably interconnected with a second plate at a first support pivot, a lever with a first end pivotably interconnected with the second end of the link at a link pivot, a shock absorber, the first end of which is pivotably interconnected with the lever second end at a shock pivot and the second end of which is pivotably interconnected to a first or the second plate at a second pivot support spaced from the first support pivot wherein the lever is pivotably interconnected with the first plate at a main pivot connection located intermediate the first and second ends thereof. In one embodiment, the shock absorber central axis and the lever longitudinal axis are parallel when the supporting body and the suspended body are in a static condition. In another embodiment, a third plate is interconnected the second plate at a first lever pivot and the first plate is pivotably interconnected with the second plate at a second lever pivot laterally spaced from the first pivot support, and the first lever pivot is intermediate the first support pivot and the second lever pivot. In another embodiment, a second lever is interconnected to the first plate at a first lever pivot, the second plate and the second lever are interconnected at a second lever pivot spaced laterally from the first lever pivot and the first lever pivot is intermediate the link pivot and the second lever pivot. In another embodiment, an air spring is mounted between two of the plates or between a plate and a lever which are pivotably connected together to cushion the movement of one of the plates toward the other of the plates and to form a suspension.

Vibration dampening assembly

A vehicle cab suspension unit has a foundation which is secured to an outer rail of the frame of the vehicle and pivotally connects one end of a track arm. The other end of the track arm is supported above the foundation by an air spring, and a cab support yoke is pivotally connected between the ends of the track arm so as to support and secure the cab at a position along the track arm between its ends. Shock absorbers are provided between the foundation and the cab support yoke on both sides of the track arm. A height control valve maintains the height of the suspension unit and elastomeric snubbers on the foundation provide limits to the range of travel of the unit.

Vehicle cab suspension unit

A vibration dampening suspension device for isolating a truck cab from the force vibrations of a vehicle frame, which includes an impact plate mounted to the truck cab, and a support plate mounted to the vehicle suspension. The device further includes a link member pivotally interconnected at one end with the support plate at a support pivot, and a lever member with a first end pivotally interconnected with the impact plate at a main pivot. The link member is pivotally interconnected with the lever member for rotation of the lever member with respect to the main pivot during compression of the shock absorber when the supporting body, suspended body and device are in a dynamic condition. A hydraulic shock absorber is provided with a first end pivotally interconnected with the lever member second end at a shock pivot and the second end pivotally interconnected with the impact plate at a pivot spaced from the main pivot. An air spring interconnected between the impact and support plates, and a torque arm pivotally interconnected between the impact plate and support plate, are also included.

Vibration dampening device

An improved vibration dampening and shock absorber suspension device for the cab of a truck vehicle is set forth having a base member adapted for mounting to the truck frame and an impact plate adapted for attachment to the truck cab where the impact plate has a lateral dimension which is less than the lateral distance between the side beams of the truck frame. Interposed between the base member and the impact plate is a pair of air springs which are maintained at a constant height by a height control valve. A pair of hydraulic shock absorbers are pivotally connected to both the impact plate and base member where the central axis of the shock absorbers form the opposite sides of a trapezoid. In another embodiment of the invention a suspension device is set forth having a base member adapted for attachment to a support body and a pair of air springs intermediate the base member and an impact plate. The displacement axis of the air springs are oppositely inclined to the vertical axis of the base member forming the opposite sides of a trapezoid. A hydraulic shock absorber is pivotally connected to the impact plate and base member such that the inclination of the central axis of the shock absorber with the vertical axis of the base member may be selectively changed.
