Methods and systems relate to generating a flow of steam and splitting the flow of steam to enable both its injection into a formation to assist in oil recovery and its introduction into a pathway where the steam is used for generating electricity and capturing carbon dioxide (CO). At least part of the COthat is captured comes from burning of fuel used to generate the steam. Steam assisted gravity drainage requires the steam that is injected to have a higher pressure than the steam that is needed for COcapture. Exhaust steam from a steam turbine used to generate the electricity reduces pressure of the steam prior to use of the steam for capturing CO.

Steam assisted oil recovery and carbon dioxide capture

Methods of oligomerizing hydrocarbons are disclosed. These methods include contacting olefins with an oligomerization catalyst in an oligomerization zone under oligomerization reaction conditions.

Oligomerization of hydrocarbons

A process for disproportionating isopentane into isomers of hexane and butane that utilizes a fixed bed reactor employing a catalyst composition comprising aluminum halide. The process additionally includes a product separation zone which can be configured to recover and return at least a portion of the isopentane product stream to the inlet of the disproportionation reactor.

A process for removing selenium from an aqueous stream using a supported sulfur material, and optionally the addition of an activating agent for enhanced removal of selenite, is disclosed.

Selenium removal process

An improved apparatus useful in a process for separating a liquid stream (which can be an HF catalyst mixture) having a first liquid component (which can be HF), a second liquid component (which can be light ASO) and a third liquid component (which can be heavy ASO) is disclosed. The apparatus includes a closed vessel including an upper portion, a lower portion, and an intermediate portion, and above a bottom tray contained therein having a downcomer extending downwardly therefrom. The apparatus also includes a conduit located within the downcomer and opening below the level of the bottom tray.

Separator system

A process for removing sulfone from a liquid hydrocarbon containing a concentration of sulfone by mixing a liquid acid therewith and thereafter separating the resulting admixture into an acid phase and a hydrocarbon phase. The hydrocarbon phase has a concentration of sulfone less than such concentration in the liquid hydrocarbon.

Method for removing sulfolane present in hydrocarbon

A new Leaf Skimmer System for collecting debris and excluding debris from entering a conventional pool skimmer system thereby reducing the amount of manual removal of the debris from the pool skimmer system. The inventive device includes a rectangular frame, a reticulated netting enclosing the frame, a plurality of doors pivotally secured to the frame, a pair of support arms including a suction cup engaging a side wall of a pool, and a elongated hook member for engaging a pool skimmer. The netting collects and retains debris, such as leaves, before entering the pool skimmer. The netting includes a water passage corresponding to the pool skimmer for allowing smaller debris into the pool skimmer.

An alkylation process for reacting alkylatable hydrocarbons in the presence of a sulfolane and hydrofluoric acid catalyst within a natural circulation reaction and circulation system.

Isoparaffin-olefin alkylation

Disclosed is an alkylation process which utilizes a mixture of sulfone and hydrogen fluoride as an alkylation catalyst. The process provides for the removal of light ASO from the alkylation catalyst that accumulates therein as a result of the inability to remove the light ASO produced as a by-product of the alkylation reaction.

Disclosed is an alkylation process which utilizes a mixture of sulfone and hydrogen fluoride as an alkylation catalyst. The process provides for the removal of ASO and water from the alkylation catalyst that accumulates therein while minimizing the loss of sulfone and HF with the ASO and water removed.

Method for regeneration of a hydrogen fluoride alkylation catalyst

Disclosed is an alkylation process which utilizes a mixture of sulfone and hydrogen fluoride as an alkylation catalyst. The process provides for the regeneration of an alkylation catalyst having ASO therein by separating HF from the ASO and sulfone components. The ASO and sulfone are thereafter separated to provide sulfone which is substantially free of ASO.

Method for regenerating a hydrogen fluoride and sulfone alkylation

Disclosed is a process for separating sulfone and hydrogen fluoride from hydrocarbon streams containing a concentration of such compounds. An extraction solvent laden with sulfone and HF is contacted with a reversible base in order to remove the HF therefrom. The thus-treated extract stream is separated into a water stream that can be reused as the water extractant and a sulfone stream that is suitably free of HF.

Method for removing sulfone and hydrogen fluoride from a hydrocarbon

Disclosed is a process for separating sulfone from a hydrocarbon stream containing a small concentration sulfone by using water as an extraction solvent. The extraction solvent, laden with the removed sulfone, is further processed to separate the extraction solvent and water to thereby produce a sulfone product suitable for reused in an alkylation process or for sale as a dry sulfone end-product.
