Computer vision drilling systems and methods may be used with a drilling rig. The computer vision systems and methods may be used during drilling of a well to monitor the drilling equipment and personnel on the drilling site to provide safer drilling operations. The results from the computer vision drilling system may be used to cause corrective actions to be performed if a safety condition arises. In addition, computer vision systems and methods are provided to automatically monitor the drilling site and drilling operations, such as by tallying pipe in the drill string and by monitoring equipment for anomalous drilling conditions, and automatically taking corrective action as may be needed.

Systems and methods for oilfield drilling operations using computer vision

A power controller may monitor a power required by each of a plurality of power loads coupled to a power distribution bus. The power loads can include a plurality of devices for oil and gas exploration or production. The devices can include a plurality of drilling rigs or equipment associated with one or more of the drilling rigs. The power controller may monitor the power supplied by each of a plurality of power sources coupled to the power distribution bus. The power sources can include power from any two or more of the following: an electric utility, an electric grid, a natural gas turbine, a battery, a solar power generator, a wind generator, and a geothermal generator. The power controller may adjust the power supplied to a first one of the plurality of power loads based at least in part on a first one of the plurality of power loads.

Systems and techniques for power management

In some implementations, a computing device may include one or more processors, a memory for storing instructions that when executed by the one or more processors perform operations may include: accessing a drill plan for a drilling operation; receiving a plurality of drilling parameters for the drilling operation; generating a report including: a graphical depiction of the drilling operation based on the plurality of drilling parameters for the drilling operation, the graphic depiction including an animated or video illustration of the drilling operation within a past predetermined time period; a plurality of metrics associated with the drilling operation as provided by the drill plan; and a summary of a planned activity for a drilling operation for a future predetermined time period. Also, the device may include saving the report on a sever connected to a network. Further, the device may include providing the report to at least one user. Similar systems and methods may be used to automatically generate and distribute or provide access to video reports of completion and/or production activities during a first time interval and planned completion and/or production activities during a future, second time interval.

Systems and methods for drilling operations

A method and system for geosteering may generate a misfit function using a spline function. The misfit function may be used to accurately map errors or differences between TVD-based measurement data for one or more reference wells and MD-based measurement data collected during drilling of a subject well, in order to accurately determine a stratigraphic location of the subject well.

Geosteering methods and systems for improved drilling performance

Computer vision drilling systems and methods may be used with a drilling rig. The computer vision systems and methods may automatically monitor the drilling site and drilling operations, and may tally pipe in the drill string and monitor equipment for anomalous drilling conditions, and may automatically take corrective action as may be needed. The computer vision system may detect and identify one or more markings, such as symbols, letters, numbers, or other identifying features, on the pipe. Such features may be encoded on the pipe, such as by being etched or engraved or otherwise marked on the pipe, and may uniquely identify each pipe. The system can monitor and record the drilling conditions to which each pipe is exposed during drilling, which can be used to determine, among other things, whether and to what extent the pipe can be expected to have a useful life.

Downhole display systems and methods. A display of one or more portions of a well log of a well during drilling may be displayed together with a display of one or more portions of one or more reference well logs, which may be presented as projected onto one or more planes, respectively. The logs may be segmented and correlated, with the segments or correlated portions displayed in different colors. A user may manipulate the display of the logs or log segments to assist in correlating them. The user may also manipulate the display so that the view provided of the wellbore and the projected logs changes in any one or all of three dimensions. In addition, the user may manipulate the display by navigating along the length of the borehole to view the projected logs at any point along the well path.

Downhole display

Analysis and control of drilling mud and additives is disclosed using a mud analysis system and a mud additive system that may automatically monitor and control the drilling mud during drilling of a well. The mud analysis system may acquire measurements on a sample of the drilling mud during drilling, and may send signals indicative of the drilling mud to a steering control system enabled to control the drilling. The steering control system may receive user input or may make decisions regarding additives to be added to the drilling mud and the timing thereof. The mud additive system may be enabled to receive commands from the steering control system and mix and add additives to the drilling mud.
