The yarn feeder device () of the invention has one or more yarn feeler levers (), which are movably supported on the housing (). The yarn feeler lever () is movable between an operating position I and a response position II. In the operating I, its crossbar () which forms the yarn feeler means is approximately in the same line as yarn guide elements, such as the struts () of yarn guide bails (). Somewhat above its operating position I, the yarn feeler lever () meets a stop, past which it is not moved by the yarn (). To improve the accessibility to the yarn guide elements () particularly when yarn is being inserted and threaded in, the stop of the yarn feeler lever () is embodied as yielding. The yarn feeler lever () can therefore be moved upward manually past the stop on its lower end (), in order to open up the space enclosed between the yarn guide elements ().

Thread feeding device comprising a spring stop for thread detectors

The yarn feeder having a plastic housing, preferably made of two clamshells, with a plastic fastening device for connecting the yarn feeder to a retaining device of a textile machine. The fastening device is made rigid by suitable shaping and without the necessity for metal inlays. The two clamshell halves of the housing each have a bearing for a continuous shaft, which on one end carries a yarn guide drum and on its other end carries pulleys for a drive device. Fasteners serve to hold the two housing parts together in the correct position for enabling easy opening of the housing for maintenance.

A yarn feeder having one or more yarn feeler levers which rest on the yarn with a force which in the desired position of the lever, i.e. with a correct yarn run, is small. If the lever is pivoted out because the yarn tension is decreased or the yarn has broken, the force with which the lever rests on the yarn increases. This is achieved in the illustrated yarn feeler by a relief device which partially compensates for the weight of the lever and provides a compensating force as a function of the pivot angle. The compensating force preferably decreases with an increase in further pivotal movement of the lever.

Yarn feed device having a weight-relieving stop element

The yarn feeder of the invention has one or two yarn feeler levers, which monitor the yarn. In order to be able to prevent the monitoring if needed, a feeler barrier is provided. Its actuating device which in the illustrated embodiment is in the form of a handle, is disposed on an outer end of the basic body of the yarn feeder so that it is readily accessible to operators. The position set can also easily be seen from the position of the handle.

Yarn feed device having a feeler stop

A yarn brake having two disklike or platelike brake elements pressed resiliently against one another has a substantially U-shaped bail (19) with two legs extending in spaced apart fashion an either side of the brake elements. Pinlike bearing means for the brake elements are secured to this bail by means of at least one bearing part receiving them, which part is embodied on or joined to at least one of the bail legs. At least one of the brake elements has a central opening, through which the bearing means extend.

Yarn brake

A yarn supply apparatus is equipped with a clutch arrangement in order to couple a drive wheel to rotate with a yarn supply wheel as necessary. The clutch arrangement is constructed in an open design, in which any development of narrowing spaces is avoided. For this purpose one clutch half is provided with axial fingers, which engage in radially open longitudinal slots, formed by a toothing, of the other clutch half. The slots of the toothing are longer than the engagement length between fingers and toothing. The intermediate space formed between the ends of the fingers and the nearest wall in axial direction is open in radial direction or is in communication with a larger inner space. Thereby the compression or compaction of deposited fluff is prevented.

Yarn supply apparatus and clutch arrangement therefor

A feeder device for feeding elastomer yarns in knitting machines has a housing split into two parts, on which bearing and drive rollers are rotatably supported, spaced apart from and parallel to one another. The housing encloses an internal chamber that accommodates gears for driving at least one of the bearing and drive rollers. The gears transmit force from a drive wheel, which is secured to a shaft protruding from the housing, to at least one bearing and drive roller. The bearing and drive rollers are supported via ball bearings, which are retained by corresponding bearing seats provided in the housing. The bearing seats are recessed in the respective integrally formed housing parts, which are preferably made by injection molding. The dividing line at which the housing parts border on one another extends through all the bearing seats, so that the ball bearings are retained between the housing parts. Securing the housing parts to one another fixes the ball bearings as well, simultaneously.
