A measuring device is disclosed which includes a proximal end portion having an actuation member thereon and a distal end portion having an expandable member thereon wherein the actuation member and the expandable member are in mechanical or fluid communication via a lumen which extends therebetween such that actuation of the actuation member causes the radial expansion of the expansion member so that when the measuring device is placed in a puncture with the distal end portion in a blood vessel, the measuring device may be withdrawn until the expandable member contacts the wall of the blood vessel adjacent to the puncture to provide the user with an indication of the distance between and/or depth of the blood vessel beneath the skin of the patient.

Measuring device for use with a hemostatic puncture closure device

A catheter assembly including a wire stiffener or a dilator and modified wire stiffener which are used in combination to assist in the insertion of a relatively soft catheter into the patient wherein the wire stiffener temporarily stiffens the catheter and the modified wire stiffener temporarily stiffens the dilator for insertion of the combined wire stiffener and dilator into the catheter. The catheter preferably includes one or more lumens therein and includes an end opening and one or more side openings thereon.

Catheter stiffeners

An elongated catheter formed of coextruded materials such that the inner surface of the extension members or body portion of the catheter have a higher durometer than the outer surface of the extension members or body portion of the catheter to reduce septum deflection during normal use, and the likelihood of tearing or sticking of the extension members is reduced.

Coextruded catheter and method of forming

A double lumen catheter having a fluid intake lumen and fluid return lumen of equal cross-sectional area, separated by an internal divide wherein blood flow characteristics are increased and maintained in a continuous fashion by a series of apertures positioned on both the intake side and return side of the catheter is disclosed. The apertures are in such position and configuration that they communicate with one another to prevent the accumulation of fibrin or other matter within the lumens as fluid enters into or exits from those lumens.
