Methods and apparatus for adaptive surge protection are disclosed. An example method comprises providing load voltage to the electric load by regulating a source voltage with a surge protection device; monitoring, via a voltage detection circuit, the source voltage from an electric source, and determining, via a wiring diagnostic circuit, whether a wiring fault is detected; monitoring, via a lightning detection circuit, for the presence of lightning within a threshold distance of the surge protection device; and breaking, with a switching device, a circuit connection to stop providing the load voltage to the electric load in response to detecting at least one of: a presence of the wiring fault, the presence of lightning within the threshold distance, an overvoltage at the source voltage; or an undervoltage at the electric source.

Method and apparatus for adaptive AC/DC surge protection

A surge protector for protecting telecommunications related equipment and other associated sensitive electrical components from over-voltage transient occurring on tip/ring conductors of telecommunication lines coupled thereto includes a printed circuit board and a plurality of surge protection circuits being mounted on the printed circuit board. Each of the plurality of surge protection circuits includes a first set of steering diodes and a second set of steering diodes. A common transient voltage clamping device has a first end connected to a first conductor lead and a second end connected to a second conductor lead so as to be shared by the plurality of surge protection circuits. A common pair of series-connected rectifier diodes has a first end also connected to the first conductor lead and a second end also connected to the second conductor lead so as to be shared by the plurality of surge protection circuits.

Collations for fasteners of various lengths

A rackmount I/O signal protector assembly for protecting telecommunications related equipment and other associated sensitive electrical components from transient voltage and current surges includes a housing enclosure, a printed circuit board disposed within the housing enclosure, and a surge protector network mounted on the printed circuit board and interconnected between an unprotected side and a protected side. The surge protector network includes gigabit surge protector circuitry formed of a plurality of voltage suppressor devices, current-limiting devices, diodes, and clamping devices. Input side connector devices are coupled to the unprotected side for connecting to incoming telecommunication lines. Output side connector devices are coupled to the protected side for connecting to customers' electrical equipment to be protected.

Rackmount I/O signal protector assembly for surge protection

A fastener driving tool for driving fasteners toward a work surface comprises a body having a forward end, a rear end, and a cylinder with an axis, a piston mounted within the cylinder, a power source for driving the piston axially forwardly, a driver blade extending axially forwardly from the piston, a nosepiece extending axially forwardly from the front end of the tool body, wherein the nosepiece encloses a drive bore for guiding the fasteners and the driver blade toward the work surface, there being an opening into the drive bore for the fasteners, a magazine for guiding the fasteners to the opening. In one aspect, the magazine and the nosepiece are fixed with respect to each other, and the tool includes a fastener guide that extends axially forwardly from the nosepiece and moves with respect to the nosepiece between an extended position and a retracted position. In another aspect, the opening into the drive bore provides a small clearance through which the tips can pass, wherein the opening is long enough to accommodate fasteners of at least two different lengths.

In another aspect, a system of collations comprises a plurality of first collations each having a plurality of sleeves each having a front, the sleeves holding first fasteners having a tip located at a predetermined position relative to the sleeve front, and a plurality of second collations each having a plurality of second sleeves each having a front, the second sleeves holding second fasteners having a different length than the first fasteners and a tip located at the same predetermined position relative to the front of the second sleeves.

A combustion chamber system, for use within a combustion-powered fastener-driving tool, comprises a dual combustion chamber system comprising a pre-combustion chamber and a final combustion chamber. The pre-combustion chamber is characterized by a high aspect ratio and has different obstacles fixedly incorporated therein for selectively retarding and enhancing the rate of burn and the rate of speed of the flame front propagating through the pre-combustion chamber. In addition, an obstacle, having a predetermined solid geometrical configuration is disposed within the final combustion chamber at a position immediately disposed downstream of a port fluidically interconnecting the pre-combustion chamber to the final combustion chamber so as to cause the flame front to diverge and split into multiple components which flow radially outwardly throughout the final combustion chamber.

A mechanism for generating a flame jet has a volume formed of at least one vertical structure and two opposing horizontal structures. A rotatable fan is located within the volume, and is rotatable in a plane generally parallel to the planes of the horizontal structures. The mechanism also contains means for igniting a combustible gas which is contained within the volume, to propel a flame jet outside of the volume.
