An assembly, a system, and a method of use for an electrode array having a semi-liquid conductive gel are herein disclosed. The assembly comprises at least one electrode; and a semi-liquid hydrogel having a viscosity of between about 8440 and 20000 milli pascals per second, wherein the semi-liquid hydrogel is disposed between a surface of the at least one electrode and a patient's skin.

Electrode array having a semi-liquid conductive gel

A conductive pad is described. The conductive pad includes a topcoat layer, an electrode element, and a conductive gel element. The topcoat layer is constructed of a non-conductive material. The electrode element has a first side and a second side, the second side connected to the topcoat layer, and configured to receive an electrical signal from a generator producing an electric signal as a TTField. The conductive gel element is connected to the first side of the electrode element and electrically coupled to the electrode element so as to receive an electrical current from the electrode element, the conductive gel element being in the form of at least one line and operable to be in contact with a patient's skin at specific locations and operable to flex with movement of the patient without substantially moving from the specific location.

Transducer array flexibility and methods of production and use thereof

A pad having a topcoat layer, an electrode element and a conductive gel element are described. The electrode element is connected to the topcoat layer, and configured to receive an electrical signal from a generator producing an electric signal as a TTField. The conductive gel element is directly connected to the electrode element so as to receive an electrical current from the electrode element. The conductive gel element is configured to be in contact with a patient's skin. The electrode element and the conductive gel element define kirigami-like cuts, the kirigrami-like cuts being a predetermined pattern of cuts resulting in the electrode element, the flexible polymer layer, and the conductive gel element forming a three-dimensional shape conforming to a predetermined portion of a patient's body.

A system for generating a TTField is herein described. The system comprises a generator configured to generate an electrical signal; a first lead coupled to the generator and a first conductive pad and configured to carry the electrical signal; the first conductive pad having a first electrode element electrically coupled to a first conductive gel element to supply electrical current to the first conductive gel element; a second lead coupled to the generator and a second conductive pad and configured to carry the electrical signal; and the second conductive pad having the second electrode element electrically coupled to a second conductive gel element to supply electrical current to the second conductive gel element, wherein the first conductive gel element and the second conductive gel element are each configured to be in contact with a patient's skin and each supporting a shaping member adjacent to one or more air channel.

The non-conductive flexible polymer layer is positioned between the electrode layer and the conductive gel element to electrically isolate the electrode layer from the conductive gel element.

Pad with improved air flow and methods of production and use thereof

A system for generating a TTField utilizing at least one conductive pad is herein described. The system comprises a generator configured to generate an electrical signal; a first lead coupled to the generator and a first conductive pad and configured to carry the electrical signal; the first conductive pad having a first electrode element electrically coupled to a first conductive gel element to supply electrical current to the first conductive gel element; a second lead coupled to the generator and a second conductive pad and configured to carry the electrical signal; and the second conductive pad having the second electrode element electrically coupled to a second conductive gel element to supply electrical current to the second conductive gel element, wherein the first conductive gel element and the second conductive gel element are each configured to be in contact with a patient's skin and each have one or more air channel.

Tumor treating fields (TTFields) may be applied to a person's body using six different types of electrodes. More specifically, the electrodes may be shaped and dimensioned (a) for insertion into blood vessels so that they make contact with the person's blood; (b) for insertion into a central canal of a spinal cord, so that they make contact with the CSF; (c) for insertion into a body orifice at a position that contacts an interior surface of the person's body; (d) for affixation to skin of the person's body (e.g., on the person's head, torso, back, abdomen, etc.); (e) for insertion into a brain ventricle so that they make contact with the person's CSF; or (f) for insertion into lymph vessels so that they make contact with the person's lymph. Applying an AC voltage between any two of these electrodes will create TTFields in respective parts of the person's body.

Perforated hydrogel configurations and methods of production and use thereof

An assembly for use in a TTField-generating system is disclosed that includes at least one electrode in combination with a polymerized conductive hydrogel and a liquid conductive hydrogel disposed on at least a portion of the polymerized hydrogel. Assemblies containing two conductive gel compositions and methods of production and use thereof

Gadolinium based contrast agents (GCA) incorporating linear ligand chelation are fundamentally different from GCAs incorporating macrocyclic ligands. The macrocyclic\GCAs are synthesized by pathways characterized by the formation of a sequence of metastable complexes before obtaining the final stable complex. The synthesis of linear GCAs do not form metastable complexes. Commercial macrocyclic GCAs contain unstable metastable complexes. These metastable species are not regulated and quickly release free Gd3+ ions upon administration into the body. Gadolinium based contrast agents with near zero metastable species content and methods of synthesizing the same are disclosed. Gadolinium based contrast agents with long dissociation time in the body, and low free Gd3+ ion formation are obtained using a synthesis method which departs in novel ways from the traditional free Gd3+-based synthesis methods.

Reduced metastable complex macrocyclic contrast agents

Disclosed herein are complexes of gadolinium metal, ligand and meglumine that are substantially free of non-aqueous solvents. In particular, solvent-free complexes of 1) gadopentetate dimeglumine and 2) gadoterate meglumine are disclosed and methods of their preparation are disclosed. In addition, methods are disclosed for purifying reactants, monitoring and controlling pH, quantifying the free gadolinium content, quantifying the concentration of gadolinium-ligand complex in aqueous solution, and procedures for producing a drug product in one step. The one step process eliminates the need to dry the gadolinium-ligand complex, which is typically highly hygroscopic. The one step process includes purification steps that do not require the use of non-aqueous solvents.

Solvent-free gadolinium contrast agents

A bone adhesive application device has a pliable structure with an application surface upon which a bone adhesive may be applied. The application surface has a surface energy substantially equal to or less than a surface energy of the bone adhesive to reduce adhesion between the bone adhesive and the bone adhesive application device. The bone adhesive application device may be included in a kit for repairing bone defects having a bone adhesive formed from a reactive biocompatible polyurethane material. The bone adhesive may be applied to a bone defect by positioning the pliable structure over at least a portion of the bone defect, delivering the bone adhesive to the bone defect and removing the pliable structure from the bone adhesive.

Method and device for handling bone adhesives

A method for closing a sternum separated into at least a first sternum portion and a second sternum portion includes preparing at least one cut surface of at least one of the first or second sternum portions to have an adhesive applied thereon. The adhesive is applied to at least a portion of the at least one cut surface. The at least one cut surface is approximated to a second cut surface of the other of the first sternum portion or second sternum portion. As the adhesive cures, it bonds with the first cut surface and the second cut surface. Preparing the at least one cut surface may remove contaminants that could inhibit adhesion of the adhesive. The adhesive may be applied through adhesive injection holes formed along an incision separating the first and second sternum portions. Devices for preparing the cut surfaces and applying the adhesive are also provided.

Methods and devices for sternal closure

A method for sternal closure of a separated sternum includes applying an adhesive to a portion of an incision between at least a first sternum portion and at least a second sternum portion and maintaining the first sternum portion proximate to the second sternum portion until the adhesive has bonded with the first sternum portion and the second sternum portion. The adhesive may be applied over substantially the entire length of the incision or may be applied in intervals. The method for sternal closure may also include compressing the first sternum portion and the second sternum portion together using one or more compression devices and introducing adhesive to contact regions where the compressive devices contact the sternum. The method may also include cutting an interface feature in the first and second sternum portions or spanning the incision between the first and second interface portions with a structural support.
