A technique for monitoring activity in a content delivery network is disclosed. A method implementation of the technique is performed by a monitoring component associated with the content delivery network and comprises extracting (S), from one or more event logs of the content delivery network, a plurality of IP addresses and a plurality of events associated with the plurality of IP addresses, obtaining (S) geolocation information for each of the plurality of IP addresses, generating (S), for each of the plurality of IP addresses, a geohash based on the geolocation information, grouping (S) the plurality of IP addresses by their geohash to determine a plurality of geohash groups representative of IP addresses having a same geohash, creating (S) a geohash index including, for each of the plurality of geohash groups, the geohash of the respective geohash group along with a number of IP addresses included in the respective geohash group and cumulative event information associated with the IP addresses of the respective geohash group, and monitoring (S) activity in the content delivery network based on the geohash index.

A small form-factor pluggable (SFP) module and related method are provided to perform additional packet processing in a communication network. The SFP module is generally configured to at least partially process data packets as they transit from a first networking equipment toward a second networking equipment in order to modify or otherwise update header information of the packets as a function of the content of their data payload. Modifying header information of data packets as they transit between interconnected networking equipments allows interconnected networking equipments to perform packet processing on the modified header information.

A system and method in a radio telecommunications network for automatically conveying a Wireless Office System (WOS) frequency set to a mobile station (MS) belonging to the WOS. The network includes a public cell, and a private WOS located within the public cell. A WOS controller sends the WOS frequency set from the WOS to an Equipment Identity Register (EIR) in the network whenever the WOS changes its frequency set. When the MS registers in the public cell in which the WOS is located, a mobile switching center (MSC) serving the public cell notifies an Intelligent Roaming Database (IRDB) of the registration. The IRDB fetches the WOS frequency set from the database, and obtains location information for the MS from a home location register (HLR). The IRDB then sends the WOS frequency set to the MS in an IS-136 R-DATA message.

System and method of automatically conveying a Wireless Office System (WOS) frequency set to mobile stations

There is disclosed a prepaid system and method for permitting a prepaid subscriber of the cellular wireless telecommunication system to revise call features during a call within the operators node and from roaming locations to debit the subscribers prepaid account on a real-time basis. The system includes a switching node permitting a call to be set up with the prepaid subscriber when a prepaid service credit balance exists and terminating the call when the prepaid service credit balance is nil. The switching node continually generates real-time call event Date Message Handler (DMH) formatted messages related to the call made by the prepaid subscriber and forwards these call event messages to a prepaid administrative network. The prepaid administrative network stores the prepaid service credit balance of the prepaid subscriber and generates at call set up an initial charge debiting rate used during the call to reduce the prepaid service credit balance. The prepaid administrative network, in response to the real-time call event messages received from the detailed call event generation means, revises the initial charge debiting rate to generate a real-time debiting rate used during the call to reduce the prepaid service credit balance.

A mobile assisted handoff (MAHO) signal strength measurement is ordered by the cellular telephone system for not only the currently used traffic channel and the reference (control) channels of neighboring cells, but also for the reference (control) channel of the current cell. These MAHO measurements are reported to the system where a compensation factor is determined which accounts for the use of different modulation schemes and or hyperbands by system traffic and control channels. The compensation factor is calculated by subtracting the MAHO measurement made on the reference channel of the current cell from the MAHO measurement made on the traffic channel of the current cell. The calculated compensation factor is then added to each of the MAHO measurements made on the reference channels for each of the neighboring cells to generate compensated signal strength measurements. The compensated measurements are then compared to the MAHO measurement made on the traffic channel (in view of a predetermined hysteresis) to determine whether a handoff to one of the neighboring cells should be made.

Measurements of the load being carried on the control channel of a cellular telephone network air interface are made and then processed to identify a maximum permitted short message service message length for control channel transmission. Short message service messages with lengths less than the permitted maximum are authorized for transmission over the control channel. Any short message service message having a length exceeding the determined maximum length, however, is refused authorization for control channel transmission. The refused messages are either saved for control channel transmission at a later time when the measured loading permits or transmitted over the traffic channel portion of the air interface.

A system and method implements a backup digital control channel (DCCH) within a base station in a telecommunications network without relying on backup auto-tuners. When a DCCH fails, a backup DCCH is created by reconfiguring an available time slot in a different transmitter in the associated base station. A local control mechanism for automatically parking an active combiner filter and activating an alternate combiner filter in an auto-tune combiner in a radio telecommunications network is resident entirely at a remote base station. The mechanism samples the radio frequency (RF) energy level on the active combiner filter in an auto-tune combiner and determines whether the measured RF energy level exceeds a predetermined RF energy threshold. The mechanism then determines the number of RF energy samples taken, compares this number to a trigger number, and parks the active combiner filter and switches to an alternate combiner filter when the number of consecutive RF energy samples below the RF energy threshold exceeds the trigger number.
