The Video Motion Anomaly Detector addresses the problem of automatically detecting events of interest to operators of CCTV systems used in security, transport and other applications, processing CCTV images. The detector may be used in a number of ways, for example to raise an alarm, summoning a human operator to view video data, or to trigger selective recording of video data or to insert an index mark in recordings of video data.

Video motion anomaly detector

A device for detection of undesired objects on surfaces, for example airport runways co-ordinates sensed data from a plurality of sensor units. With radar sensors, synthetic aperture radar processing is found to be advantageous. A vehicle which is configured with a plurality of sensors may be either remotely controlled or autonomous. It may also be provided with communication equipment and debris retrieval apparatus and that includes both mobile sensing devices and fixed installations. A suitable mobile sensing device and a method for operating the debris detection system are also provided.

Detection of undesired objects on surfaces

A catheter localization system for generating information appertaining to a three dimensional map of a part of a human or animal body from which three dimensional map a position of said catheter may be determined. The catheter localization system includes a catheter having a catheter head which is arranged in use to be conveyed through the human or animal body to a desired localization, a plurality of acoustic transducers disposed about said catheter head at predetermined localizations and a signal processing unit which operates to determine said three dimensional map of said part of a human or animal body consequent upon signals received by a plurality of acoustic transducers acting as acoustic receivers, which acoustic signals were generated by at least one of said plurality of acoustic transducers acting as an acoustic source.

Catheter localization system and method for performing medical diagnostics

The apparatus comprises video cameras for viewing part of a patient's body and a slide projector for projecting a predetermined pattern of light onto the patient's body which is viewed by the cameras. A workstation and video frame grabber performs controlling and processing functions and are arranged to process said images from the cameras using image processing algorithms. The images from the cameras are superimposed upon prestored images which are generated from X-ray or CT scans. A passive pointer, having a predetermined pattern thereon which is recognisable by the controlling and processing means is used by the surgeon. The pattern is used to identify the exact position of a tip of the pointer in relation to the patient's body and is displayed on a monitor with the superimposed images.
