A method of printing on a polymeric article includes applying a decoration-forming deposit on a transfer blanket. The method further includes transferring the decoration-forming deposit from the transfer unit to the polymeric article to provide a decoration on the polymeric article.

Printing process

An inkjet printing system includes an ink reservoir defining an ink-receiving chamber and a control chamber, a control fluid source fluidly communicating with the control chamber, and an orientation sensor configured to determine an orientation of the ink reservoir and generate an orientation signal. A processor is operably coupled to the control fluid source and the orientation sensor, the processor programmed to determine a desired pressure for the control chamber based, at least in part, on the orientation signal, and control the control fluid source to adjust an actual pressure level in the control chamber to the desired pressure for the control chamber.

Inkjet printing system having dynamically controlled ink reservoir

An inkjet printing system includes an ink reservoir defining a longitudinal axis, an ink-receiving chamber and a control chamber. A control fluid source delivers a control fluid across a range of pressure levels to the control chamber, and an orientation sensor determines an orientation of the longitudinal axis of the ink reservoir and generates an orientation signal. A processor is operably coupled to the control fluid source and the orientation sensor, the processor being programmed to infer an angle of the longitudinal axis relative to the vertical reference axis based on the orientation signal from the orientation sensor, determine a desired pressure for the control chamber based, at least in part, on the inferred angle of the longitudinal axis, and control the control fluid source to adjust the actual pressure level in the control chamber to the desired pressure for the control chamber.

In some examples, a printing system including a rotating platen having an axis of rotation and configured to support a substrate, and a printhead configured to eject drops in a direction parallel with the axis of rotation onto the substrate supported by the rotating platen.

Printing on a rotating surface

Among other things, for jetting ink, a first set of orifices of an apparatus are arranged to print at a first maximum resolution along a direction different from a process direction. A second set of orifices is coupled to the first set of orifices. The second set of orifices is arranged to print at a second maximum resolution lower than the first maximum resolution along a direction different from the process direction.

A fluid ejection system includes a receiver transport system configured to transport a receiver in a first direction, a first fluid ejection head including a first set of fluid ejection nozzles to deposit fluid drops on a first surface of the receiver, and a second fluid ejection head including a second set of fluid ejection nozzles to deposit fluid drops on a second surface of the receiver. The production system includes a conveyor configured to carry articles along a path relative to one or more stations of the production line, wherein each article is positioned at a site on the conveyor. The production system also includes a printing station configured to print an image on the articles as the conveyor moves the items past the printing station and an electronic controller configured to provide instructions to the printing station, wherein the electronic controller modifies the printing operation based on the operation of another station in the production system.
