A drive assembly for a drug delivery system including a plunger member configured to engage and move a stopper within a container, a biasing member configured to move the plunger member, and an adjustable spacer assembly positioned between the plunger member and the stopper. The spacer assembly includes a spacer element attached to the stopper and at least one shim or includes a spacer element and a holder to which the spacer element is attached. The holder may be attached to the stopper and the spacer element may be attached to the holder by a threaded engagement. Also, a drug delivery system for injecting a medicament, the system including a container configured to receive a medicament, the container comprising a stopper configured to move within the container and a closure, a drive assembly as described above, and a needle actuator assembly.

A sensor device removably attachable to a drug delivery device includes a sensing arrangement arranged within the sensor device and circuitry configured to process signals provided by the sensing arrangement. A method and system for detecting a limit of use of a medical device is disclosed. The method includes starting a timer of a medical device when said medical device is used for the first time, detecting the limit of use of the medical device and indicating the limit of use of the medical device. The limit of use is reached when at least one of a first criterion and a second criterion is met, wherein the first criterion is that the timer reaches or exceeds a time limit and wherein the second criterion is that at least one operation of a drive train of said medical device reaches or exceeds a limit.

The present disclosure is directed to a spring arrangement for use in a drug delivery device and a drug delivery device including such a spring arrangement. The spring arrangement includes a clutch spring which is located axially interposed between a stationary housing component and an axially movable sleeve. The sleeve includes clutch features adapted to engage corresponding clutch features of a clutch element. The clutch spring biases the clutch features and the corresponding clutch features into engagement. The sleeve is coupled to a button such that upon actuation of the button the sleeve is translated against the bias of the clutch spring from a proximal position in which the sleeve is rotationally locked to the housing component into a distal position in which the sleeve is rotationally un-locked from the housing component. Upon release of the button the clutch spring translates the sleeve and the button into the proximal position.

The device comprises a housing and at least two separate component parts, wherein for example at least one of these component parts performs a movement relative to the housing during dose setting and for example at least one of these component parts performs a movement relative to the housing during dose dispensing, and wherein the relative movement of the at least two separate component parts with respect to each other during dose setting differs from the relative movement of the at least two separate component parts with respect to each other during dose dispensing. The device further comprises a monitoring device, wherein at least one component part of the device is diaphanous to allow optical detection of the movements of the at least two separate component parts relative to the housing, relative to the monitoring device and/or relative to each other during dose setting and/or during dose dispensing by the monitoring device.

A method and system for detecting a limit of use of a medical device is disclosed. A coded cartridge holder for use with a drug delivery device is provided. The cartridge holder includes a fastener that becomes operative based in part on a length of a cartridge or a diameter of the cartridge. In one embodiment, the cartridge holder is coupled to the drug delivery device. The cartridge holder comprises a first blocking feature. The drug delivery device includes a cartridge detector comprising a second blocking feature. This feature may be a pin, for engagement with the first blocking feature of the cartridge holder when the cartridge acts on the cartridge detector. The cartridge holder may further include a fastening mechanism configured to fasten the cartridge holder to the drug delivery device only when the second blocking feature engages the first blocking feature.

This disclosure refers to a dosing mechanism for use in a drug delivery device implementing a dialing mode and a dispensing mode, wherein the dosing mechanism comprises a dose button, a housing and a determination unit. The dose button is activatable by the user for dose dispense, causing displacement of an indicating element connected to the housing from a first position to a second position. The determination unit is adapted such that it detects the indicating element in its second position and thereby determines that the dosing mechanism is in the dispensing mode. With some embodiments, it is possible to distinguish between the dialing mode and the dispensing mode. Some embodiments further refer to a drug delivery device comprising the above dosing mechanism.

The present disclosure is generally directed to a drug delivery device for selecting and dispensing a number of user variable doses of a medicament. The device comprises a housing, a dose selector operable to set a dose by rotation relative to the housing, a number sleeve arranged within the housing, a drive sleeve which is rotationally constrained to the housing during dose setting and dose correcting and which is rotatable relative to the housing during dose dispensing, a piston rod coupled to the housing and to the drive sleeve a drive spring arranged between the housing and the number sleeve, and a ratchet operatively arranged between the drive sleeve and the number sleeve. According to the disclosure the ratchet comprises at least one clicker arm of one of the number sleeve and the drive sleeve and ratchet teeth of the other of the number sleeve and the drive sleeve.
