The present invention determines the resonant frequency of a wireless sensor by adjusting the phase and frequency of an energizing signal until the frequency of the energizing signal matches the resonant frequency of the sensor. The system energizes the sensor with a low duty cycle, gated burst of RF energy having a predetermined frequency. The system receives the ring down response of the sensor and determines the resonant frequency of the sensor, which is used to calculate a physical parameter. The system uses a pair of phase locked loops to adjust the phase and the frequency of the energizing signal. The system identifies false locks by detecting an unwanted beat frequency in the coupled signal, as well as determining whether the coupled signal exhibits pulsatile characteristics that correspond to a periodic physiological characteristic, such as blood pressure.

An improved drive mechanism is provided for use with automatic paint stirring equipment of the type having a rack adapted to removably receive and support paint cans wherein each paint can has a cover, a stirring element contained within the can and a driven member positioned above the cover and mechanically connected to the stirring element. The improved drive mechanism includes a drive shaft having a diametric cross bore at a position spaced from the first end of the shaft. A diametrically extending opening extends from the cross bore to the first end of the shaft and this opening has a smaller cross-sectional area than the shaft cross bore. The shaft is rotatably mounted to the rack so that the first end of the shaft is positioned adjacent the driven member on the paint can. A drive member is then secured to the first end of the shaft which drivingly engages the driven member on the paint can during rotation of the shaft. This drive member has an axle and a drive plate secured to the axle. Additionally, the axle includes a diametrically extending through slot dimensioned so that, upon inward compression of the axle causing reduction in the size of the size of the slot, the axle has a cross-sectional shape smaller than the shaft opening so that the axle is slidable through the shaft opening and to the shaft cross bore. With the axle positioned in the crossbore, the slot expands such that the axle has a cross-sectional shape greater than the shaft opening thereby securing the axle to the shaft.

A container having an actuating mechanism with a depending flexible central stem is filled with a flowable viscous substance by the method disclosed. In the method, the container is disposed with its open end facing upwardly for receiving the lower end of a filling tube having a camming surface which engages the stem and displaces it laterally as the filling tube enters the container and advances alongside the stem. After the filling tube reaches a predetermined depth, discharge of the viscous material begins and continues as the filling tube is withdrawn from the container.

A pallet post which comprises a truncated, cone-shaped outer body and a cylindrical-shaped inner body encompassed by the outer body and attached thereto by a plurality of spaced-apart flanges. The post has a top wall on the larger end of the cone-shaped outer body, and the inner body has a portion extending beyond the outer body at at least the end thereof having the top wall. The inner body also has an axial bore extending through it. The post is secured to a pallet by extending the shaft portion of a rivet having an enlarged head through a hole in the pallet into the axial bore in the inner body of the post. The extend portion or portions of the inner body of the post are disposed within the holes in the pallet to provide additional support.

An improved pallet and, particularly, an improved post construction for a pallet which can be easily and quickly affixed thereto. In addition, a roller is provided about the posts for reducing the tendency of fork tines from damaging or otherwise impairing the posts.

A table is provided which is adjustable between a lower and an upper height. The table top rests on supporting members attached to extension arms which are pivotally mounted to the table legs. The extension arms may be rotated from horizontal to vertical and provide with the supporting members a lower table top height when in the horizontal position and an upper table top height when in the vertical position.
