A blade is secured to a blade adapter which is dimensioned to receive a fixed adapter. The fixed adapter is connected to the engine drive shaft of a rotary mower. The blade and fixed adapter are provided with cooperating surfaces which permit the adapters to be selectively locked together and separated from each other without requiring tools.

A throttle-responsive device is provided which includes a lever which is selectively displaced from a remote point so as to actuate the primer bulb of an engine.

A reversible mower blade is formed from an elongated length of bar stock, the end portions of the blade including respective outer segments twisted in opposite senses about the longitudinal axis of the blade's central portion and respective inner segments also twisted in opposite senses about the axis. The inner and outer segment which form an end portion of the blade are twisted about the axis in opposite sense relative to one another.
