Disclosed is a high speed flex circuit electronic interface in combination with a sealed optical connectorization approach for optical coupling. In a preferred embodiment, at a front end of the connector a wedge seal ring or 'press ring' is pressed into the end of a slide tube, both of which are, in a preferred embodiment, made of metal such as stainless steel. The wedge end shape of the press ring in this preferred embodiment allows it to be easily pushed into the inside diameter of the slide tube, expanding the slide tube to create a radial surface seal maintained by the hoop stress developed in the slide tube initiated by the press ring, thereby creating a hermetic seal on a cylindrical portion of the flange assembly connector. A flex-circuit sealed back-end of the connector uses, in a preferred embodiment, polymer to polymer or polymer to metal bonding to create a hermetic seal on the back end.

Environmentally-sealable package for optical assembly

An optical package having a top and bottom orientation and comprising: (a) a platform defining a V-groove with walls of a certain pitch; (b) a first optical component having a reference surface and two sides, each side being beveled at the certain pitch outwardly from the reference surface, the first optical component having a first optical axis, the first optical component being disposed in the V-groove such that the reference surface faces downward and the sides are in parallel contact with the walls of the V-groove; and (c) a second optical component having an outer periphery with at least two contact points and a second optical axis, the second optical component being disposed in the V-groove such that the contact points contact the walls of the V-groove and the second optical axis is coaxial with the first optical axis.

A coaxial cable connector is provided for interconnecting coaxial cables having center and outer conductors. The coaxial cable connector includes inner and outer contracts configured to be securable to inner and outer conductors of coaxial cables. A connector housing has a cavity for receiving the inner contact. The outer contacts are secured to the connector housing. A coaxial cable displacement contact section connected to the outer contacts has at least one displacement beam and braid-receiving slot dimensioned to pierce the coaxial cable automatically when the outer conductors are mounted to the coaxial cable connector. The coaxial cable displacement contact section affords an automated and reliable technique for interconnecting contacts and outer coaxial cable conductors.

Coaxial cable displacement contact

A coaxial cable connector is provided for interconnecting coaxial cables having center and outer conductors. The coaxial cable connector utilizes a contact and shell arrangement defining a strip line geometry for the electric fields generated by signals passing through the coaxial cable connector. The contacts and shells may be formed with planar conductors aligned parallel to one another with a center conductive strip sandwiched between planar ground strips, all of which are separated by dielectric materials. The widths and thicknesses of the contact and ground planes, the spacing there between and the dielectric materials are manufacturable in an easy, reliable, and cost effective method.

Coaxial cable connector

The present invention provides an optical connector comprising a ferrule having an unpolished mating face and defining a fiber bore, at least one fiber contained within the ferrule such that an end face of the fiber is presented at said mating face, and a film having an outer surface, the film being disposed on the ferrule mating face such that any air gap between the outer surface of the film and the end face of the fiber is essentially eliminated, and the outer surface being suitable for mating with a mating structure such that the fiber is optically coupled with a mating optical pathway in a mating structure.
