An exemplary elevator system includes a first mass that is moveable within a hoistway. A second mass is moveable within the hoistway. A plurality of elongated members couple the first mass to the second mass. At least one damper is positioned to selectively contact at least one of the elongated members if sway occurs. A sensor is associated with the damper. The sensor detects contact between the damper and the at least one of the elongated members. A controller adjusts at least one aspect of elevator system operation responsive to the detected contact.

Elevator reassignment information is communicated to passengers in a group elevator system (). The group elevator system () includes a group of elevators (, 14, 14) that is operable to transport each of the passengers to one of a plurality of floors (L, F, F, F, F). A destination entry input device () at each floor permits each passenger to enter destination input information. A dispatch controller () assigns an elevator to each passenger based on the destination input information. When service of a dispatched elevator is terminated, a communication device () communicates elevator reassignment instructions to passengers assigned to or located in the dispatched elevator.

Communication of elevator reassignment information in a group elevator system

A wireless, portable call request entry kiosk () has a control panel () with keys () and a display panel for entering calls and informing passengers of the responding elevator. The kiosk has wireless communication () with a building () where the kiosk is located, to transmit call requests to a dispatching controller (). The kiosk operates on a rechargeable source such as a battery (). A sensor () determines a lull in traffic, causing the kiosk to operate in a low power consumption mode.

Wireless, self-contained elevator call request entry system

An elevator system () utilizes destination entry dispatching techniques. A controller () receives an automated destination request that includes a prestored, primary destination. This allows for seamlessly integrating building access and destination entry for the elevator system. A passenger interface () allows a passenger to override a prestored destination. The elevator controller () allows for override or secondary destination requests to be made at various intervals between receipt of the initial request and arrival of an initially assigned car at an appropriate level to let the passenger board the elevator car.

Automatic destination entry system with override capability

An elevator system utilizes a destination entry control technique and delays indicating which car is assigned to a request to allow an individual to arrive near an elevator lobby. An elevator group assignment is made responsive to a destination request. An indication regarding the group assignment is provided to a passenger within a first time from the receipt of the request. A second indication regarding a car assigned to carry that passenger to the desired destination is provided at a second, later time from the request. Separating out the group assignment indication and the car assignment indication is accomplished in one example by providing separate interfaces at different locations within a building.

Destination entry system with delayed elevator car assignment

A multiprobe diagnostic system for a cooking appliance using one or more heating elements, one or more error-detecting temperature sensors located near the heating element(s), one or more control temperature sensors spaced away from the error-detecting temperature sensors, and a microcomputer program for identifying and setting error conditions in the appliance based on comparisons in temperature and temperature differentials in the appliance with minimum and maximum predetermined or learned values. Other devices, such as current sensors, are used in conjunction with temperature sensors to augment the diagnostic information obtained from the temperature sensors.

Multiprobe intelligent diagnostic system for food-processing apparatus

A planetary gear system for rotating spits in a rotisserie device. The system includes a gearing plate mounted to a wall in the rotisserie. The gearing plate includes a plurality of projections which extend inwardly into the interior of the rotisserie. A gear wheel is positioned adjacent the gearing plate and an idler wheel is positioned opposite the gearing wheel adjacent a second wall of the rotisserie. The gear wheel and idler wheels are rotated in synchronization by a rotatable shaft. A plurality of spits are supported between the gear and idler wheel and moved in a circular path about the shaft as the wheels rotate. The spits further include a gear which meshes with the projections on the gearing plate as the spits are rotated about the shaft, further effecting rotation of the spits about their longitudinal axis.
