A positive lock for an ambulance cot and method thereof which requires lifting an upper frame of the ambulance cot, in order to permit a spring actuator to clear an interference fit of the positive lock, are provided. If the upper frame is not lifted, then the spring force used to pull on the positive lock is insufficient to overcome the interference fit. Clearing the interference fit permits the cot to be height adjusted. Optionally, a light indicator may be provided which illuminates if the cot has not been positively locked in a height adjusted position.

A universal overhead door system includes a pair of horizontal track members, a pair of vertical track members and a pair of track radius members interconnecting the horizontal and vertical track members. A pair of adjustable short radius members extend from the track radius members to guide uppermost rollers of an overhead sectional door. The overhead door system includes a pair of stationary sheaves positioned outboard of a pair of horizontal support rails which support the horizontal track members. A detent is provided at one end of the adjustable radius members to prevent undesirable travel the garage door. A spacer is provided for use in extension spring configurations when a long horizontal support rail is required. The spacer prevents metal-to-metal contact of moveable sheaves with the horizontal support rails.

A track guard for a sectional overhead door assembly comprises an elongate member which may be positioned between the vertical track sections of the door assembly and a wall jamb to which the vertical track sections are mounted to cover the space therebetween. The track guard has a generally C-shaped cross-section and has a width which tapers from a first end to a second end to accommodate variations in spacing between the vertical track sections and the wall jamb.

An overhead door and associated mating panels include enhanced wear surfaces and protection against the intrusion of climatic elements or the like in the form of a combined weather seal, light block and wear insert on the upper and/or lower edges of the mating adjacent door panels. The wear surfaces are utilized during the opening and closing of the door so that frictional interaction or rubbing between the mating edges is minimized to reduce wear and damage to the panels over the service life of the door. Additionally, the wear insert portion reduces a gap between the mating edges of the adjacent panels to provide enhanced protection without requiring increased roll forming tolerances on the panel manufacturing process. Moreover, the invention includes upright projecting weather seal and light blocking portions that are positioned in a gap formed at the juncture of the mating panels. When the door is closed, the weather seal and light blocking portions are deflected. The weather seal provides a climatic barrier as well as inhibiting the passage of foreign material between the mated panels and the light block inhibits light from passing between the mated panels.

An overhead door and associated mating panels include a hinge guard which is used in conjunction with each of the hinges of a multi-panel or sectional door. The hinge guard includes a base that is screwed, bolted or otherwise secured to a lower one of the door panels or a stile on the lower panel. The base is designed and configured to fit between the spaced hinge arms of an upper hinge leaf of the door. The hinge guard also includes a pair of protective side flanges that are connected by a bridge to a common edge of the base. Each flange extends generally parallel to a respective side of the base and is spaced from the side to provide a gap through which one of the hinge arms of the upper hinge leaf pivots. The protective flanges are positioned on the outboard or external side of the hinge arms to thereby block or inhibit foreign objects from interfering with the movement of the hinge arms during articulation of the hinge. The hinge guard inhibits the insertion of a foreign object into the hinge from the side. Secondly, the raised arcuate-molded contour of a boss on the base minimizes the space or clearance between the upper hinge leaf and the lower door panel during articulation of the hinge to thereby inhibit the insertion of foreign matter in this region of the hinge.

A universal overhead door system includes a pair of horizontal track members, a pair of vertical track members and a pair of track radius members interconnecting the horizontal and vertical track members. A pair of short radius members extend from the track radius members to guide uppermost rollers of an overhead sectional door. The short radius members terminate close to the top of the door opening and thereby eliminate the need to guide the uppermost rollers below the level at which the curved portion of the track radius members begin. The ability to install the short radius members when needed for smaller door opening sizes and low head room environments provides a universal track system for most overhead door installations.

Universal overhead door system

An overhead door includes a plurality of panels pivotally connected to one another with the mating upper and lower edges of the adjacent panels providing a pinch-resistant configuration during articulation of the overhead door. Additionally, the installation and assembly of the door is more easily and efficiently accomplished because of first and second contact locations between the mating upper and lower edges of the panels and the configuration of those contact locations provides registration or alignment of the panels relative to one another during installation. Additionally, the hinge assembly includes a pivot axis which is positioned between the front and back faces of the panel to enhance the pinch-resistant operation of the door and the installation of the hinge is easily accomplished with a reduced number of parts because of cooperating keyhole slots and key on the pivot pin of the hinge.

A connection system for interconnecting various components, such as components of an overhead garage door system, is provided which includes, in one aspect, a first component having a pair of spaced apart hook members, an intermediate guide member and a detent extending from a planar body of the first component. A second component includes a pair of spaced apart apertures which are shaped and aligned to receive the hook members, and an intermediate aperture which is shaped and aligned to receive the guide member upon registration of the first and second components in face-abutting relationship. As the first and second components are translated relative to each other, the detent of the first component engages the intermediate aperture of the second component to thereby establish a connection between the first and second components. Connection of a roller bracket to a door stile of an overhead garage door system is provided by the novel connection system, as well as connection of a door stile to a door panel. In a second aspect of the invention, interconnection of horizontal tracks, vertical tracks and track radiuses is provided by the novel connection system to form continuous door tracks on opposite sides of a door frame.

Slip and lock connection system

A multiple section door system, such as an overhead residential garage door, wherein a variety of different door front configurations are formed with a limited number of panel designs by flipping or turning at least one panel relative to an adjacent panel. Each panel includes identical structured joint members along two longitudinal edges thereof which enable one panel to be 'flipped' or turned such that the lower edge becomes the upper edge and vice versa, while an adjacent panel may remain in its original orientation. A third structured joint member is connected between the two adjacent joint members of adjacent panels. The third structured joint member is a male member, while the two structured joint members attached to each panel are female members. Adjacent female joint members of two panels form a universal pinch resistant joint with the male joint member.

Multiple section modular door and joint structure

A sectional door, which may be an overhead door such as a residential garage door, including hingedly connected door panels each being formed from a plurality of subpanels. The subpanels forming each door panel are disposed end-to-end to form the entire length of the door panel. Rigid connection between adjacent subpanels of the same door panel is made by at least one and preferably two connecting bars extending within channels of adjacent subpanels in a lengthwise direction. The connecting bars are each formed of a length substantially less than the overall length of the door panel but slightly longer than the length of an individual subpanel. All components of the door may be stored and transported in relatively small packages or cartons, yet may be assembled into a structurally rigid, wind resistant sectional door.
