A bushing having particularly advantageous use with heavy duty truck suspensions and including: i) a first outer bushing member; ii) a second inner bushing member defining an annular space between the first and second bushing members; and iii), an elastomeric interface disposed within the annular space between the first and second bushing members in face-to-face contact with; first and second sets of grooves formed in one of the first and second bushing members with the first set of grooves being axially spaced from the second set of grooves by a greater axial distance on one side of the grooved member than the axial spacing on the diametrically opposite side of the grooved member. In the exemplary bushings, first and second sets of grooves are formed on the inner surface of the first bushing member. The first and second sets of grooves may comprise helical threads of different hand, helical threads of different pitch, or discrete axially spaced grooves which may, but need not, be discrete continuous endless grooves. The inner and outer bushing members may be metal, or they may be a composite material including filament wound glass fibers and an epoxy resin, or the outer bushing member may be a composite material including filament wound glass fibers and an epoxy resin while the inner bushing member is metal. The inner bushing member may also be a compression molded composite material including glass fibers embedded in an epoxy resin. The elastomeric interface material is preferably urethane.

Vehicle rain skirt

Exterior extension for a truck cab

An exterior visor for an automotive vehicle; the visor extending forward over the windshield of the vehicle. The visor includes a number of recessed air vents located in the upper surface of the visor and which are formed by transverse midwalls which are mounted between the front and rear edges of the visor, and by lengthwise extending sidewalls which are connected between the midwalls and the visor rear edge. The air cavities are further formed by individual floor members which extend rearward and upward from the bottom edges of the midwalls. Openings are formed in the midwalls to allow airflow between the bottom surface and top surface of the visor. Fasteners such as pop rivets are inserted through mounting tabs which extend rearward from the visor rear edge and through the cavity floors, to secure the visor to the vehicle above the windshield.

A modular rain skirt assembly (20', 20, 20') for use in reducing the laterally projected component of finely atomized, dense, mist emanating from the running gear of heavy vehicles traveling on rain coated road surfaces and including: one or more generally flat, elongate panels (28, 28', 28'), each having inturned leading and trailing edges (30, 31) and each defining a projected mist capture area adapted to extend downwardly about the outer upper surfaces of the tires mounted on the vehicle's running gear; at least one spacer panel (29, 29') interposed between each adjacent pair of elongate panels (28, 28', 28') in those rain skirt assemblies (20, 20') employing two or more elongate panels (28, 28', 28') for use with tandem axle configurations and wherein the spacer panel (29, 29') includes inturned leading and trailing edges (32, 34) complementally shaped with respect to the trailing and leading edges (31, 30), respectively, of the adjacent elongate panels (28, 28', 28') with the leading edge ( 32) of each spacer panel (29, 29') being fixed secured to the trailing edge (31) of the adjacent elongate panel (28, 28') and the trailing edge (34) of each spacer panel (29, 29') being affixed to the leading edge (30) of the adjacent elongate panel (28', 28') so as to form a unitary rain skirt assembly (20', 20, 20'). Fore and aft mounting brackets (44, 45) are provided for mounting each unitary rain skirt assembly (20', 20, 20') to a side frame member (21) on the vehicle.

Vehicular rain skirts

An exterior visor (20') for automotive vehicles (21) formed of two or more symmetrical visor sections (20a, 20b) adapted to be abutted in end-to-end relation to form an exterior visor (20') having an overall length 'L' in the range of from about 55' to about 70', or more, wherein each visor section (20a, 20b) is provided with an integral, downwardly projecting, fore/aft vertical flange (32,34) adapted to be sandwiched between complementally shaped reinforcing plates (35, 36) and permanently secured together by rivets (38) with the thus assembled flanges (32, 34) and plates (35, 36) defining an integral reinforcing support or brace for the visor (20') and wherein, when disassembled, the visor sections (20a, 20b) may be stacked in nested relation and packaged in a box (31) having a length 'L', a height 'H' and a depth 'D' wherein the dimensions 'L', 'H' and 'D' are such that 'L'+2 ('H'+'D') is equal to or less than 84' even where the overall length of the assembled visor (20') may be on the order of 70', or more.

Exterior visor for automotive vehicles

A rear exterior extension for the cab of a pickup truck. The cab extension is formed by a pair of parallel upstanding side members and a horizontal top cover which is joined to the top ends of the side members. A streamlined appearance is provided by left, right inward extending male mounting portions of the side members which are recessed so that the top cover is fitted about the male portions and aligns with the side members. The side members are mounted to the truck bed rails by mounting brackets which are connected to and enclosed within the side members, and which include vertical fasteners which extend downward through the mounting brackets and top edges of the cargo bed walls.
