A bit retention device has an upper support member having an inner surface and an outer surface. A lower support member fixed to the upper support member. A stationary plate is mounted to the inner surface of the upper support member. A clamp plate opposes the stationary plate and is spring biased toward the stationary plate and slidably moveable between the upper support member and the lower support member.

First and second dies can be coupled to a pair of arms on a threaded rod cutting machine. The first die has a body with a front face, a rear face, a side face extending between the front face and the rear face, and a first threaded recess in the first side face and configured to receive a threaded rod to be cut. Crests and troughs of the first thread are aligned with troughs and crests of the threaded rod when the first die engages the rod. The second die has a body with a front face, a side face extending between the front face and the rear face, and a second threaded recess in the side face and configured to receive the threaded rod. Crests and troughs of the second thread are axially offset from troughs and crests of the threaded rod when the second die engages the rod.

Cordless anchor setting tool bit retention device

A power tool for drilling a hole in a workpiece made of wood or a wood material. The power tool generally includes a tool housing defining a handle and a motor contained within the tool housing that includes an output shaft that spins about a motor axis. A gear housing is connected to the tool housing. An output spindle is supported for rotation about a spindle axis in the gear housing. The spindle axis is disposed about ninety degrees from the motor axis. A gear portion on the output shaft is engaged to a gear portion on the output spindle. The motor and the gear portions are configured to rotate the output spindle at a speed in range from about five thousand revolutions per minute to about twenty-five thousand revolutions per minute. A cutting member is connected to the output spindle. The cutting member includes fluted cutting blades. A carriage assembly includes a base member and a head member connected by a first post having a first compliant member and a second post. The head member slides relative to the first and second posts and against a force exerted by the first compliant member when the head member is moved toward the base member to pass the cutting member through the base member to engage the workpiece. The base member includes a generally planar face on a bottom surface of the base member that is generally perpendicular to the spindle axis.

A tool chuck may include an input shaft. A chuck actuating shaft may be mounted for rotation on the input shaft. A chuck actuating screw may be screw coupled to the chuck actuating shaft. A spring may be interposed between the chuck actuating shaft and the input shaft. Upon tightening the tool chuck, the spring may be compressed to provide force against the chuck actuating screw.

Mechanism for providing residual thrust load on chuck actuating screw

A power driver may include a housing, a tool chuck and a power take off mechanism. The tool chuck may have an input shaft mounted for rotation on the housing. The input shaft may support chuck jaws. A chuck actuating shaft may be mounted for rotation on the input shaft. The power take off mechanism may be connected to the tool chuck. The power take off mechanism may be adjustable into a DRILL DRIVE MODE to rotationally drive the input shaft and the chuck actuating shaft together as a unit, and a CHUCK MODE to rotationally drive the chuck actuating shaft relative to the input shaft. The power take off mechanism may be internal of the housing. The power take off mechanism in the CHUCK MODE may rotationally fix the input shaft to the housing.

A chuck for a drill/driver. The chuck can include an input shaft having a cavity, a chuck actuating shaft and a chuck actuating screw. The chuck actuating shaft can be received in the cavity and can be rotatable about a chuck axis. The chuck actuating shaft can have a threaded aperture. The chuck actuating screw can have a threaded portion that is threadably engaged to the threaded aperture. The jaws can be received in the cavity and can engage the input shaft. The jaws can be coupled to the chuck actuating screw such that rotation of the chuck actuating shaft relative to the chuck actuating screw translates the jaws so that the jaws converge toward or diverge from the chuck axis. The chuck further includes a device coupled to at least one of the chuck actuating screw, the chuck actuating shaft and the input shaft for limiting elastic elongation of the chuck actuating screw in an axial direction when the jaws are positioned in a fully opened condition.

A line generating device may include a housing, a support assembly mounted within the housing, a light source mounted on the support assembly, a lens mounted on at least one of the support assembly and the light source, the lens receiving light and projecting the light in the shape of a fan within a plane, and a first level vial mounted on the support assembly, wherein the first level vial is coplanar or perpendicular to the plane. The device may also include a magnet mounted on the support assembly.

A removable chuck has a chuck member for holding a drill bit. Also, a mechanism is coupled with the chuck body to retain the chuck body to a drill spindle. The retention mechanism, in a first position, has at least one biased blade, in a non-biased condition, retaining the chuck on the drill spindle and in a second position, with the at least one biased blade in a biased condition, the chuck is enabled to be removed from the spindle.

Removable chuck

A removable chuck has a chuck member for holding a drill bit. Also, a mechanism is coupled with the chuck body to retain the chuck body to a drill spindle. The retention mechanism, in a first position, a biasing member in a non-biasing condition, retains the chuck on the drill spindle and in a second position, with the biasing member in a biased condition, the chuck is enabled to be removed from the spindle.

A removable chuck has a chuck member for holding a drill bit. Also, a mechanism is coupled with the chuck body to retain the chuck body to a drill spindle. The retention mechanism, in a first position, retains the chuck on the drill spindle and in a second position the chuck is enabled to be removed from the spindle.

A power cord retaining device for a portable AC powered tool. A retaining member holds the power cord plug engaged with a mating AC power jack in the housing of the power tool. The retaining member moves within the housing of the power tool from an unlocked position to a locked position. In one embodiment the retaining member slides within the housing of the power tool. In an alternative embodiment the retaining member rotates within the housing of the power tool. In the locked position the power cord plug is held in place engaged with the mating power jack in. the housing of the power tool. In one embodiment a release member having a biasing element locks the retaining member in place until it is manually unlocked by the user thereby permitting the retaining member to be moved away from the power jack to permit removal of the plug from the power jack. Another alternative embodiment incorporates a retaining member which is biased into engagement with a release housing portion of the power tool housing.

Power tool cord retainer

A drill has a chuck with a body member and a bore to receive a cutting tool. A plurality of jaw members are coupled with the body to retain the cutting tool in the bore. A mechanism to secure the cutting tool in the jaws is coupled with the body. The mechanism applies a biasing force on the jaw members which enables the jaw members to slide on the body between a locked position securing the cutting tool in the jaw members and an unlocked position which enables egress and ingress of the cutting tool into and out of the jaw members.
