This invention relates to fluorochemical compositions, their preparation and their use as water- and oil-repellents, and substrates treated therewith. The fluorochemical composition comprises a mixture of fluorochemical compounds and/or polymers, each component having at least two fluoroaliphatic groups and a large hydrocarbon moiety such as derived from dimer acids, and the polymer having at least one fluoroaliphatic group and a plurality of said hydrocarbon moiety.

Fluroaliphatic dimer acid derivatives and use thereof

Radiation-sensitive organo-halogen compounds that have a photo-labile halomethyl-1,3,5-triazine moiety and a polymeric moiety within the same molecule. The compounds of this invention are comprised of a polymeric moiety having attached or incorporated within its structure at least one 1,3,5-triazine nucleus, said triazine nucleus having at least one halomethyl substituent attached to a carbon atom of the triazine nucleus. These compounds are capable of being stimulated by actinic radiation at wavelengths of from about 250 to about 900 nanometers to generate free radicals and/or acids. The compounds of this invention are useful as photoinitiators in free radical polymerization reactions, oxidation-reduction reactions, or reactions sensitive to acid, and they also exhibit the capability to crosslink upon exposure to light.

Polymers containing halomethyl-1,3,5-triazine moieties

Radiation-sensitive organo-halogen compounds having a photo-labile halomethyl-1,3,5-triazine moiety and at least one polymerizable moiety within one molecule is provided. The compounds of this invention have at least one halomethyl substituent attached to a carbon atom of the triazine moiety and at least one polymerizable monomeric moiety attached to another atom of the triazine moiety. The compounds of this invention can be used to prepare polymers having 1,3,5-triazine substituents attached thereto. The compounds of this invention are good photoinitiators, and compositions containing them can be used in printing, duplicating, copying, and other imaging systems. The compounds of this invention are capable of stimulation by actinic radiation at a wavelength of about 250 to 900 nanometers to generate free radicals.

Halomethyl-1,3,5-triazines containing a monomeric moiety

Radiation-sensitive organo-halogen compounds having a photo-labile halomethyl-1,3,5-triazine moiety and at least one polymerizable moiety within one molecule. The compounds of this invention have at least one halomethyl substituent attached to a carbon atom of the triazine moiety and at least one polymerizable monomeric moiety attached to another atom of the triazine moiety. The compounds of this invention can be used to prepare polymers having 1,3,5-triazine substituents attached thereto. The compounds of this invention are good photoinitiators, and compositions containing them can be used in printing, duplicating, copying, and other imaging systems. The present invention comprises a flourochemical composition exhibiting water and oil repellency properties which is soluble in an a hydrocarbon solvent system which is non-halogenated or substantially free of halogens and strong carbonyl solvents.

A coating composition is provided. The coating composition is a curable blend of ethylenically unsaturated polyester and ethylenically unsaturated thermoplastic polymers. The composition is capable of providing a thermoplastic, soluble, sandable, intermediate-stage coating and, when cured, a final stage coating which is unaffected by acetone placed on the final stage coating for two hours at 22.degree. C., has a percent haze value of 15% or less, and is unaffected when subjected to a Wet Print Test.

Radiation-curable thermoplastic coating

Ethylenically unsaturated cellulose esters are provided. These ethylenically unsaturated cellulose esters are the reaction product of a cellulose ester having unreacted hydroxyl groups and a polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated compound having an isocyanato group reactive with the hydroxyl groups of the cellulose ester. The product is substantially free of unreacted isocyanate groups and is particularly useful in protective coatings.
