An optical connector is secured to a body member which can be rotated away from the outer surface faceplate of the circuit pack for inspection, cleaning or repair. The body member is otherwise constrained to move along the outer surface of the circuit pack in a fixed path such that the connector of one module can mate through an adapter with a corresponding connector on another module.

The present invention relates to a variable insertion force circuit pack latching system comprising a latch assembly mounted on the front of a circuit pack and adapted to couple to a trough block mounted on a bay frame. The trough block has a hook-shaped tongue adapted to conversely couple to the latch assembly to secure the circuit pack in the installed position.

A high density fiber optic connector interface for an electro-optic circuit pack is disclosed. The fiber optic connector interface comprises a elongated housing having an elongated base plate and side walls, a plurality of cable connection assemblies arrayed on the elongated base plate of the housing, and a plurality of slider mechanisms mounted on the elongated base plate. Each cable connection assembly is slanted relative to longitudinal axis of the housing. All the assemblies are arrayed in a row along a line slanted relative to longitudinal axis of the housing with the neighboring assemblies being overlapped. Each cable connection assembly includes an internal cable connector, an external cable connector, an adaptor for receiving the internal and external connectors, and an adaptor holder for holding at least one adaptor. Each slider mechanism supports a respective one of cable connection assemblies so that each cable connection assembly can slidably be snapped-out away from the housing for access and slidably snapped-in into the operating position. Each cable connection assembly includes a transmission failure indicating means.

High density fibre optic connector interface

A passive method and packaging system for thermally controlling the temperature of electronic equipment within a housing are disclosed. The packaging system provides for two cooling steps, each of which uses a different passive cooling technology. Cooling by changing the phase of Phase Change Material, assists in controlling internal ambient temperatures by limiting the effects of short term localized thermal phenomena which would otherwise further increase internal temperatures. Cooling is also provided for by switching on a second passive cooling means, preferably a heat pipe, as the internal temperature of the housing increases above a predetermined temperature and to switch it off as the internal temperature drops below the predetermined temperature. Turning the second passive cooling means on and off provides respectively, a low or high thermal resistance path between the interior and exterior of the housing. The second passive cooling means allows for cooling of the housing above the predetermined temperature as well as heating of the housing below the predetermined temperature by preserving heat generated by the equipment. The two cooling steps in combination, co-operate to limit both maximum and minimum temperatures within the housing and of components. The combination of cooling steps also allows control over the temperature delta between the maximum and minimum temperatures during internal temperature swings.

A network unit enclosure adapted for exposure to humidity and airborne contaminants defines a sealed first chamber and an adjacent second chamber. The two chambers are sealingly separated by a circuitry substrate on which electronic components are mounted in the first chamber and through which conductor connection means in the second chamber are connected to electronic components in the first chamber. An outer wall bordering the second chamber includes a hole for providing an electrical cable feedthrough. The enclosure may also define a third chamber, and a wall separating the first and third chamber including a sealed feedthrough for an optical fiber segment connected at one end to an opto-electronic component in the first chamber and the other end for connection to an optical fiber from an optical cable passed through an access hole in an outer wall bordering the third chamber.

Network unit enclosure

An assembly of a circuit pack and an environmental protection in which the protection is a heat conductive and fluid-tight cover surrounding the pack and sealed to an electrical cover at one end of the pack. The cover is heat conductively connected with the circuit pack and has guide surfaces to enable the assembly to be guided in an electronic shelf. The cover is also provided with handling regions to enable its removal from the shelf and is resistant to buckling. There may be a resilient clip provided at each side edge of the cover. The clip holds the cover in heat conductive engagement with the circuit pack and has an outer surface which acts as a guide surface.

Circuit pack and environmental protection assembly

An assembly for axially aligning two ferrules comprises a first housing, an alignment sleeve carrier, an alignment sleeve retained within a passage of the alignment sleeve carrier and a nut for securing the alignment sleeve carrier to the first housing such that a leading end of a first ferrule received in a passage of the first housing can extend into the alignment sleeve. The assembly further comprises a second housing, a socket member and a spring clip for securing the socket member to the second housing. The socket member has a through passage for receiving a second ferrule at one end and a leading end of the alignment sleeve carrier at another end such that the second ferrule can extend into the alignment sleeve for axial alignment with the first ferrule when the alignment sleeve carrier is received in the passage of the socket member. The spring clip permits limited movement of the socket member on the second housing to facilitate entry of the alignment sleeve carrier into the passage of the socket member and alignment of the first and second ferrules within the alignment sleeve. The assembly is used in a blind mating optical fiber connector.
