An actuator assembly for use in fire suppression systems for use in vehicle and industrial fire protection systems. The actuator assembly engages a cartridge of pressurized gas and releases the gas contained therein with a puncturing assembly. The actuator assembly includes a receptacle that controls the manner in which the actuator assembly and cartridge engage one another. The actuator assembly is configured for electrical and pneumatic actuation for rupturing the seal of the cartridge of pressurized gas. The actuator assembly has a housing that includes at least one inlet port that is coupled to a pressurized gas source, which is formed between a first chamber for electrical components sealed from the operative environment of the actuator assembly and a second chambers for the puncturing assembly. The actuator assembly allows for serial interconnection of multiple actuator assemblies for operation by a single source of pressurized gas.

Electric-pneumatic actuator assembly

An automatic fire suppressing system is preferably provided onboard a vehicle and is supplied with one or more fire suppressing agents that are discharged in response to detecting a fire threat. Preferred embodiments include high-speed valves for discharging the fire suppressing agent(s), optical detectors for detecting and evaluating fire threat conditions, and modules for monitoring and controlling the automatic fire suppressing system.

High speed automatic fire suppression system and method

A valve for a fire extinguishing system includes a housing, a flow control apparatus, an actuator apparatus, and a manual override apparatus. The flow control apparatus is disposed in a cavity to prevent or permit flow of the fire extinguishing agent from an ingress aperture to an egress aperture of the housing. The flow control apparatus includes a burst disk clamped between the first and second annular faces and an annular spool axially movable along the longitudinal axis relative to the housing. The actuator apparatus includes a bearing sleeve angularly movable around a longitudinal axis relative to the housing and a latch element operably coupling the bearing sleeve and the annular spool. The manual override apparatus includes a cam operably coupled to the bearing sleeve.

Valve for a fire extinguishing system

A fire suppression system for a fryer is provided. The fire suppression system for the fryer may include a reservoir of fire suppression agent, piping connected to the reservoir, and one or more nozzles connected to the piping and configured to direct fire suppression agent into the fry vat when the lid is not in the fully open position (such as when the lid is in the closed/unlocked position). For example, when the lid is closed, a headspace may be created between the fry vat and an interior portion of the lid. When the lid is in the closed and unlocked position (creating an opening into the headspace for venting of the fry vat), the nozzle may be configured external to both the lid and the fry vat so that fire suppression agent is directed through the opening and into headspace of the fry vat.

Fryer fire suppression system

A discharge assembly used with a fire suppression delivery system comprises a nozzle having an outer nozzle surface and inlet and discharge ends. The inlet end receives fire suppression agent and the discharge end dispenses fire suppression agent through an orifice. A blow-off cap has an open-ended cavity shaped to receive the discharge end of the nozzle and cover the orifice. The cavity includes an interior cap surface located in close proximity to the outer nozzle surface of the nozzle when the blow-off cap is mounted on the discharge end of the nozzle. A receptacle is formed in at least one of the outer nozzle surface of the nozzle and the interior cap surface of the blow-off cap. A retention element fits within the receptacle and engages the outer nozzle surface and interior cap surface, providing a predetermined amount of retention resistance to retain the blow-off cap on the nozzle.
