An integrated circuit device includes an insulating body provided with a number of electrically conductive leads and having a surface provided with a red LED aperture, an IR LED aperture and a photodetector aperture. The insulating body also includes an optical isolator optically separating the photodetector aperture from the red LED aperture and the IR LED aperture. A red LED is aligned with the red LED aperture, an IR LED is aligned with the IR LED aperture, and a photodetector is aligned with the photodetector aperture.

In an implementation, an integrated multifunction sensor includes a multifunction sensor configured as a sensor and a first electrode, the multifunction sensor including a lid coupled to a first side of the sensor, where the lid includes a semi-conductive material, and an analog device connected to the lid; where the multifunction sensor is configured to couple to a controller that receives health information from the first electrode and a second electrode. In some embodiments, the integrated multifunction sensor can include an integrated optical sensor. In some implementations, a second electrode may be located elsewhere in a mobile integrated sensor device and complete a differential circuit.

A gesture detection device that includes an angled optical lens is disclosed. The present disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices for estimating spectral contributions in ambient light. Techniques are described to furnish a touchless joystick-type controller in a portable electronic device. The techniques may be implemented within an electronic device that comprises one or more sensors configured to detect a target at a distance from the sensor and provide a signal in response thereto. The signal is received in response to the sensor detecting a target within a field of view of the sensor. A position of the target relative to a point of reference is then determined based on the signal. Movement of the target may be tracked based on changes in the determined position relative to the point of reference. In embodiments, the target comprises a thumb or a finger of a hand of a user of the electronic device and the determined position to furnish a joystick-type control input.

Optical devices are described that integrate multiple heterogeneous components in a single, compact package. In one or more implementations, the optical devices include a carrier substrate having a surface that includes two or more cavities formed therein. One or more optical component devices are disposed within the respective cavities in a predetermined arrangement. A cover is disposed on the surface of the carrier substrate so that the cover at least substantially encloses the optical component devices within their respective cavities. The cover, which may be glass, is configured to transmit light within the predetermined spectrum of wavelengths.
