Aqueous-form additive systems, and methods of blending the same with a matrix resin, are disclosed whereby acrylic-based impact modifier compositions, butadiene-based impact modifier compositions and acrylic-based processing aids are used in aqueous form without the need for isolation to the traditional powder-form. The aqueous additive systems of the present invention provide a means for the design of novel additive compositions. The aqueous additive systems of the present invention also provide a great degree of flexibility in preparation of matrix resin blends and formulations. Additionally, the aqueous additive systems of the present invention allow for the reduced cost of manufacturing additives and reduced cost in blending matrix resin formulations.

Aqueous additive systems for polymeric matrices

The invention relates to improved polyacetal compositions composed of polyoxymethylene (component A) and a stabilized MBS core shell graft copolymer (component B) formed from a rubber-elastic core based on polybutadiene, and a hard graft shell. The stabilized MBS core shell graft copolymer (component B) contains a special stabilization formulation of at least one hindered phenol, a phosphite, a sulfide, and a pH buffer system. The shaped articles produced from these mixtures are particularly distinguished by an excellent low-temperature impact strength and a good heat aging performance.

Impact modified polyacetal compositions

The invention relates to improved thermoplastic compositions composed of one or more thermoplastics (component A), and a stabilized MBS core shell graft copolymer (component B) formed from a rubber-elastic core based on polybutadiene, and a hard graft shell. The stabilized MBS core shell graft copolymer (component B) contains a special stabilization formulation of at least one hindered phenol, a phosphite, an organic sulfide, and optionally a pH buffer system. The stabilized MBS core shell graft copolymer improves the impact strength and heat aging properties of thermoplastic compositions and polyacetal compositions. The shaped articles produced from the improved thermoplastic compositions are particularly distinguished by an excellent high-temperature impact strength and a good heat aging performance.

Stabilized modifier and impact modified thermoplastics

A polymer blend comprises from about 60 parts to about 99.9 parts by weight of a pigmented thermoplastic resin, which resin is a polyester or a polycarbonate or mixtures thereof, and from about 0.1 part to about 40 parts of a sequentially produced multi-stage polymer. The multi-stage polymer comprises a polymer core of at least about 10 parts, based on the weight of the multi-stage polymer. The core is polymerized from a styrenic monomer, or a mixture of styrenic monomers. The styrenic monomer of the core comprises at least about 50% by weight of said core. A second monomer may be present and a crosslinking monomer for styrene is present in said core. The second stage of the multi-stage polymer comprises a polymeric soft stage and the outer stage of the multi-stage polymer is a rigid thermoplastic.
