A shoe includes a shoe top structure secured to a sole having a sole forward segment for making contact with a shoe support surface such as the floor of a basketball court, and a sole rearward segment which arches upwardly and then extends rearwardly from the sole forward segment to be spaced above the shoe support surface, and including a heel in the form of a heel panel mounted beneath the sole rearward segment, and including spring means biasing the heel panel downwardly a certain distance from the sole rearward segment to define a vertical gap between the sole rearward segment and the heel panel. As a result of this construction, a downward thrust of a wearer heel inside the shoe presses the heel panel firmly against the shoe support surface drives the heel panel upwardly toward the sole rearward segment against the biasing of the spring means, thereby storing energy in the spring means. As the wearer rises off the heel panel, the spring means causes the heel panel to exert a downward force on the support surface, the spring means thereby adding upward acceleration to the wearer body to cause the wearer to rise higher in his or her step or jump than he or she would without this shoe.

The present invention is directed to an integrated circuit package having improved EMI characteristics. In accordance with one aspect of the invention, a ball grid array integrated circuit package is provided for attachment to a circuit board. The circuit package includes a substrate having a semiconductor die defining an electronic circuit formed thereon. A matrix of spherically-shaped package leads is disposed adjacent the substrate and opposite the semiconductor die. Conductive elements, such as bond wires, electrically connect circuit points on the semiconductor die to the package leads. Further, at least one conductive element electrically interconnects each of the leads that define a perimeter of the matrix of package leads, for electrical connection to ground. In the preferred embodiment, adjacent leads of the perimeter matrix are separated by a spacing that is no greater than 1/20 of the wavelength of the highest frequency electrical signal carried on any of the signal leads. In accordance with another aspect of the invention, a printed circuit board assembly comprises a circuit board substrate having conductive elements and a socket area for receiving a semiconductor package, wherein the socket area is defined by a matrix of conductive pads. Each conductive pad includes a metal coating and is shaped to receive a lead of the semiconductor package. Finally, at least one conductive element or trace electrically connects each of the conductive pads that define a perimeter of the matrix of conductive pads, for electrical connection to ground.

A laminated folding indicia carrier, such as a folding map, consisting of a plurality of laminated rectangular relatively stiff panels, preferably six, wherein an indicia carrier, such as a paper map, is laminated between transparent film. Selected adjacent panels are hingedly connected and pivotal through substantially 360.degree. whereby lateral panels may be selectively folded over either the front or rear face of an associated central panel, and the central panels are hingedly connected for folding over either face of the other central panel. In this manner, any of the identically dimensioned panels may be easily folded as to be visually observed while the folded configuration will be of a single panel size.

We have discovered that by pretreating a thioether (R'--S--R) containing organic phase to be used as an extractant in a solvent extraction process for separating platinum group metals from base metals and/or each other in aqueous solution with a mild oxidant, e.g., cupric chloride, in an acidified aqueous phase, the tendency of stable emulsion formation during extraction can be substantially eliminated.
