A choke for removing large diameter particulate matter from an oil or natural gas well includes a housing having a chamber with an integral solids receptacle. The chamber is in communication with a flow stream outlet and a flow stream inlet. The flow stream inlet is located below the flow stream outlet. The flow stream inlet directly adjoins the integral solids receptacle in the chamber. The choke includes a solids removal outlet located below the flow stream inlet in communication with the chamber for flowing particulate from the chamber when actuatedby a user. The choke includes a needle disposed in a bonnet connected to the chamber above the flow stream inlet for controlling the flow stream from the flow stream inlet to the flow stream outlet by engaging a choke faceof a seatwith the needle.

The remaining particles are removed by flowing the flow stream towards a side outlet over the plate. The invention is a high pressure trap for removing particles from a flow stream of a high pressure well that maintains the full pressure of the high pressure well, wherein the trap has an inlet port connected to a Christmas tree, a chamber with a top flange, a bottom flange, and a side wall connecting the top flange and the bottom flange in fluid communication with a choke manifold, a dump outlet in communication with the bottom reservoir and connected to the bottom flange, a dump outlet controller for opening and closing the dump outlet, and a tube disposed between the bottom reservoir and the side outlet, wherein the tube is mounted within the chamber to the top flange without contacting the side wall, thereby the velocity of the flow stream is changed as the flow stream is passed from the tube into the chamber.

The invention is a tree saver apparatus for preventing excess pressure on a Christmas tree for a well, wherein the Christmas tree has tubing, a master valve, a top valve, a second master valve, a wing valve, and wherein the apparatus has a connection with at least 3 outlets connected to the cylinder, a frac wing valve connected to the connection with at least 3 outlets, a frac valve connected to the connection with at least 3 outlets, a mandrel connected to the piston rod, a landing bowl connected to the top valve, and a hydraulic system with a piston, a cylinder, an upper plunger, and a hand wheel.

Tree saver

A hydraulic choke for a flow stream from a well with large diameter particulate matter of a finite amount includes an inlet with a defined inlet flow area and a chamber with a defined chamber flow area. The inlet flow area is about &frac13; the size of the chamber flow area. The choke further includes a gate in the chamber surrounded by a housing separated from the chamber wall, a piston for engaging the gate against a seat, a studded outlet in communication with the chamber in the same plane as the inlet, and a studded solids removal outlet in communication with the chamber. The studded solids removal outlet is oriented approximately 90 degrees from the inlet position to permit the large diameter particulate matter to fall from the flow stream and into a solids receptacle for collecting the large diameter particulates matter. The solids receptacle is in communication with the studded solids removal outlet.
