This invention is a GPS speeding detector including a GPS receiver, a CPU, a database of speed limits for a particular geographical region, and speaker. The unit can be integrally mounted in a car or used as a stand-alone device. The CPU receives position data from the GPS receiver, uses the position to calculate the speed of the vehicle, and queries the speed limit on a database. The CPU compares the vehicle speed against the posted speed. An audio tone from the speaker notifies the driver of speeding.

Apparatus and a method are provided for converting a three pilot aircraft cockpit to a two pilot aircraft cockpit including relocating, without change, some control instruments from their existing positions to new instrument panels within reach of the remaining two crew members, the captain or pilot and first officer or copilot, modifying other control instruments for pilot workload reduction, and including the addition of a monitoring means to the cockpit for providing visual caution indicators responsive to caution indicators among the repositioned control instruments that are not within direct sight of the remaining two crew members.

Apparatus and method for the conversion of a three crew member aircraft

A device for the collection and testing of a fluid specimen is disclosed and claimed. The invention is particularly useful for collecting and testing human urine specimens but may also be employed in the veterinary environment or any time a potentially hazardous fluid is to be collected and tested and isolation of the specimen from testing personnel is desired. The invention keeps the specimen enclosed and sealed during transport and testing to facilitate safe handling of specimen. Some embodiments of the invention are highly resistent to tampering by the patient or during transport.

Fluid specimen collection and testing apparatus

A door positioning device comprising a housing concealed in a door jamb and a mechanism mounted in the housing for holding the door open in one or more selected positions. The mechanism comprises a cylinder mounted in the housing wherein a slidable piston is mounted. Linkage connects the piston to linkage mounted onto the door, in such a way that when the door opens, the linkage forces the piston upward in the cylinder. A shaft integral with the piston depends from the piston and is moveable with it. The shaft has a plurality of vertically spaced roller receiving recesses formed thereon. The housing has a movably mounted roller biased toward the shaft so as the door opens, the shaft moves upward in the cylinder until the roller moves into one of the vertically spaced recesses whereby the door is held open at a selected position. In this way when a slight pressure is exerted on the door it overcomes bias holding the roller in a recess formed in the shaft, allowing the door to close.

Concealed door positioning mechanism

A flush bolt boring jig is rigidly attached to a drill. The drill has a bit which is the length of the bore to be formed in the door. The jig holds the drill rigidly so the bore being drilled in the door is parallel to the free end of the door. This is done by tracks mounted by clamps in such a way that the tracks are parallel to the free end of the door. The jig is attached to a pair of slide tubes which slide on the tracks. Since the drill is attached to the jig, as the hole in the door deepens, the drill moving with the slide tubes over the tracks moves in a straight line so that the bore being formed is exactly parallel to the free end of the door.

Flush bolt boring jig

A drain plug for sealing the waste and overflow drain assemblies during construction and system testing. A threaded bolt extends through a rubber washer. The bolt is screwed into a tapped hole in the shoe assembly of the drain, providing a secure plug that will not blow out during system testing. A sleeve may be employed on the bolt to allow ease of access to the bolt when deep drains are plugged.

Drain plug

An extractor for removing a ferrule which has been tightly press fitted onto a pipe. The extractor utilizes a frame within which is to be located the ferrule portion of the pipe. Within the frame, the ferrule is fixed in position with the open end of the pipe connecting with a plug. The plug is swivelly mounted onto a threaded rod. The threaded rod is threadably secured to the frame. Movement of the threaded rod causes movement of the plug against the open end of the pipe causing removing of the ferrule from the pipe.

Ferrule extractor

A hand-held ultrasonic tooth-cleaning apparatus which may be inserted into the mouth to remove materials from the teeth by cavitation using a lip seal or a continuous liquid flow. Electromechanical transducer elements are used to establish propagation of ultrasonic energy in a transverse mode with respect to the longitudinal axis of a vibrating member one terminus of which constitutes the probe which is inserted into the mouth by the user.

Ultrasonic tooth cleaning apparatus

An irrigation and drainage system for cultivated fields, croplands and the like for supplying and extracting water and similar liquids through a subsurface conduit network automatically responsive to the ground water table occurring above or below a predetermined subsurface reference level near the depth of the conduit network. A plurality of elongated subsurface perforated conduit lines are located throughout the field at a uniform depth below ground along one or more ground elevation contour line or lines for outflow or inflow of water through the conduit line perforations when the ground water level is respectively below and above the predetermined subsurface reference level. Distribution boxes having an adjustable weir and supply water and excess water connections are provided for the conduit lines at each elevation.

Subsurface irrigation and drainage system

An ultrasonic method and apparatus for removing dental plaque from teeth in situ and for cleaning the teeth employing a liquid couple for imparting ultrasonic energy to the surface of the teeth at ultrasonic energy levels which are not harmful to the teeth or gums.

Ultrasonic tooth cleaner

A unique 'compass' device for drawing and measuring circles, and employing a template with a center pin and many holes. Indicia are provided on the template to indicate concentric and generally annular zones centered at a certain center, each such zone having its boundary relatively adjacent the center located a first distance from the center (on the particular distance scale employed on the compass), and also having its boundary relatively remote from the center located a second and higher distance from the center on such distance scale. The holes lie along an Archimedes spiral centered at the center, and all holes located a first perdetermined fraction of each whole number (of the particular distance scale) are disposed along one radial line extending from the center; all the holes located a second and next-higher predetermined fraction of each whole number of the particular distance scale are disposed along a second radial line, etc.

Circle drawing and measuring device

Distance measurement by conventional optical interferometry requires physical movement of an optical element. The present system obtains interference with a continuous range of radiation wavelengths, providing a direct measurement of a constant optical path difference, in terms of the fringe count and the end wavelengths of the range employed. Variations in the optical path difference occurring during the measurement are compensated by simultaneous interferometry with a fixed wavelength.
