A pair of tracks having spaced cutouts formed along the longitudinal extent thereof are mounted vertically on opposite walls of a compartment such as the interior of a truck or other transportation vehicle. A beam assembly is formed by a pair of channel members and a beam member in which the channel members are slidably supported in telescoping relationship, the channel members having limited longitudinal movement relative to the beam member. One end of each of the channel members protrudes from the beam member and has a spring actuated latching device attached thereto. The effective length of the assembly can be adjusted by slidably positioning the channel members relative to the beam member to bring the latching devices into contact with the opposing tracks with such latching devices being selectively fitted onto flanged portions of the track and into a pair of opposing track openings so that they latch onto the track. A pair of such beam assemblies can be utilized to support a shelf or to directly support cargo without the intermediary of such a shelf.

Adjustable decking system for use in supporting freight in a compartment

A tie down fitting is adapted to fit into a cutout or hole formed in a track or the like installed on the floor of a vehicle. The fitting has a pair of slotted portions which fit into the cutout in engagement with the end edges thereof. A spring actuated plunger is provided on the fitting which when manually raised permits the slotted portions to be fitted in the cutout and after being so fitted limits motion of the fitting thereby retaining the fitting in the cutout. In one embodiment of the invention, a latch formed with a protrusion on the plunger and a pair of rivets on the main body of the fitting provide upper and lower limit stops for the plunger.

A retractable roller system for handling cargo has a main channel which is mounted on the floor of a vehicle into which cargo is to be loaded. a pneumatically actuated bladder is mounted along the bottom of the channel and a roller tray on which a plurality of roller members are rotatably supported is mounted in the channel above the bladder. Extending outwardly from each of the opposing side walls of the roller tray is a flange member, the flange member of one of the walls being at a lower level therealong than the flange member of the opposing wall. Extending inwardly from each of the side walls of the main channel is a flange member, the flange member of one of the channel walls being at a lower level therealong than the flange member of the other channel wall. The roller tray is mounted in the main channel such that the side thereof on which this flange is at a lower level is opposite the side of the channel with the lower level flange with the side of the roller tray and main channel having the higher positioned flanges being opposite each other. The rollers are raised and lowered by inflating and deflating the bladder. With the bladder deflated, the roller tray moves downwardly to recess the rollers below the level of a removable cover plate. In such a lowered position, with the cover plate removed, the roller tray can be readily removed from the channel by sidewise tilting which permits the side flanges of the roller tray to clear the side flanges of the channel.

An anchor fitting has flat surfaced pads with shoulders extending therefrom and a post portion extending along an axis substantially normal to the flat surfaces of the pads. A fastening device is provided on the post for anchoring a load to a track on which the fitting is removably mounted. The device further includes a screw adjustable plunger and clamp member which can be adjustably positioned by the screw along an axis substantially normal to the flat surfaces of the pads. The fitting is removably retained in a selected position along a slotted track, having a plurality of notched portions separated by narrow neck portions formed by flanges, with the shoulders of the pads and the track slots underneath the flanges and with the plunger lowered by the screw so that it is seated in one of the notched portions of the track with a clamping shoulder portion of the plunger-clamp unit in tight engagement with the top surface of the track. This provides a tight, rattle-proof joinder between the fitting and the track.

A machine for removing book bindings from books so that the paper comprising the pages of the book can be recycled is provided. The machine includes a front and a rear deck, a pusher, a machine frame which extends above the decks and the pusher and a knife assembly (which includes a knife blade) swingably attached to the machine frame and having an up and a down position. The pusher slides back and forth between in and out positions. A book is placed on the front deck and the pusher slides to its in position, positioning the book under the knife assembly. When the book is properly positioned, the knife assembly swings from the up to the down position, cutting off the binding of the book. In some embodiments the invention includes a table frame upon which the front and rear decks are slidably mounted on railings supported by the table frame and have respective in and out positions. Also, the table frame may support a divider bar which is contacted by the knife blade when the knife assembly is in the down position and which is abutted on its sides by said decks when the decks are in their in positions. Thus, when the decks move to their out positions, spaces are created between the divider bar and the decks on both sides of the divider bar through which the sliced pages and bindings can fall.

A mobile agricultural sprayer having a control system for controlling the amount of chemical additive added to a water stream from a mobile storage tank in response to a chemical additive concentration detector is disclosed. The mobile sprayer utilizes a mobile water storage tank and at least one chemical additive tank which communicates with the water to be sprayed at a point between the tank and the sprinkler heads. A pump draws water from the storage tank and directs it under pressure to the sprinkler heads. The chemical additive is typically added in liquid form, such as a solution or a slurry, at a point preferably upstream of the pump inlet while concentration is measured at a point between the point of addition of the chemicals and the sprinkler heads and preferably before the inlet of the pump. The concentration detector transmits information to a monitor which controls the amount of chemical introduced into the water to be sprayed.

Mobile agricultural sprayer with additive concentration control

A cargo container is provided with a door opening having means for engaging and disengaging the top and/or bottom of the door on vertical movement thereof. A hollow rail extends across the top and/or bottom of the door opening and has elongated slots therein provided with slot-enlargements for receiving a foot or feet of a locking member movable along the bottom and/or top of the door. The locking member includes a reduced portion movable through the slot and an enlarged portion having a transverse dimension greater than the width of the slot. Suitable means, preferably rack and pinion means, are provided for shifting the locking members along the door to locking position after movement through the slot-enlargements into the interior of the rail.
