A surgical training device for use with a thoracic tissue model includes a base having a thoracic tissue model receiving area. A first rib mounting member is slidably coupled to the base adjacent a first side of the thoracic tissue model receiving area and a second rib mounting member is slidably coupled to the base adjacent a second side of the thoracic tissue model receiving area opposite the first side. A plurality of simulated ribs each have a first end coupled to the first rib mounting member and a second end coupled to the second rib mounting member, and are repositionable between right and left thoracic configurations.

Surgical training device for use with thoracic tissue model and associated methods

A real-tissue surgical training system includes a base and a harvested porcine tissue cassette. A substrate is configured to be removably mounted to the base. Harvested porcine tissue is carried by the substrate and configured to simulate the oropharynx region of the human body and to receive a surgical tool therein for surgical training.

A custom support structure and models for use in simulated robotically-assisted, telesurgical and/or laparoscopic colonic, pelvic, bladder, or uterine surgery are disclosed. The support structure comprises components for inserting the support structure into a mannequin, and for positioning animal tissue in a way that mimics the human colorectal, pelvic, uterine, and bladder systems, thus allowing for simulated surgery.

Colorectal and pelvic surgical simulation model systems and methods

A surgeon training apparatus includes a cassette, which includes biological tissue re-purposed into a form consistent with the anatomical configuration of a foregut, affixed into an anatomically correct framework which replicates the abdominal anatomy. The framework positions the cassette in an anatomically correct position within the abdominal cavity, enabling surgeons to train using a properly positioned representation of the target anatomy, thus requiring the surgeon to properly use surgical tools to simulate surgical operations performed on a foregut. The cassette is formed by applying biologic tissue to a specially designed 'plate,' which affixes the tissue block into the anatomic framework. The cassette can be positioned inside a mannequin, and can be used to train surgeons to perform surgeries using multiple techniques, including robot assisted and laparoscopic methods.
