A shirt construction includes a pocket that is strategically located and constructed to hold an object, such as a mobile device (e.g., a smart phone). The pocket is a side pocket that is located along one side of the shirt below an armhole thereof such that when the wearer's arm is in a normal lowered position, the upper arm covers and can apply a force to the outside of the side pocket and/or to the object contained in the side pocket, thereby ensuring that the object remains in place within the side pocket.

A bimetallic disc actuated thermostatic switch with thermal override comprises a base, a fixed contact on the base, a movable contact and a bimetallic disc which moves the movable contact into and out of engagement with the fixed contact to effect or interrupt continuity therebetween. A thermal override pellet which melts or deforms in response to an excessive temperature is provided in a cavity in the base and the fixed contact is mounted on a resilient arm which overlies the pellet. When an excessive temperature is reached, the pellet fuses or deforms and the fixed contact arm and the fixed contact move toward the base to separate the fixed and movable contacts even when the latter is in its normally engaged position.

Thermostatic switch with thermal override

A bimetallic, disc-actuated, thermostatic switch comprising a resiliently deformable actuator disc having an integrally struck actuator arm which extends radially inwardly to a point adjacent to a fixed contact. When the bimetallic disc is flexed in response to a predetermined temperature change, it applies pressure to the edge of the actuator disc proximal to the stem of the actuator arm causing the actuator disc to be resiliently deformed and causing the arm to be pivoted on a fulcrum in the switch, thereby causing the terminal end of the arm to move relative to the fixed contact to either open or close the switch. Since the arrangement is such that the edge of the bimetallic disc exerts pressure on the actuator disc, maximum deformation is imparted to the actuator disc thereby achieving maximum movement of the actuator arm for a given size bimetallic disc, thus permitting relatively small discs to be successfully utilized.

Thermostatic switch construction

A hair dryer for use in personal beauty care incorporates a blower for moving a stream of air through a dryer housing onto the hair. A self-regulating, disc-shaped, electrical resistance heater body formed of a ceramic material of positive temperature coefficient of resistivity (PTC) and having a multiplicity of air flow passages extending between the opposite faces thereof is arranged the housing for heating the air stream. The heater body is mounted for rotational movement between a first position wherein the passages are parallel to the air flow direction so that substantially all of the air stream is directed through the passages and a second position wherein the passages are oblique to the air flow direction so that a substantial part of the air stream passes around the heater body without passing through the passages, whereby the temperature of the heated air directed onto the hair can be selectively varied by rotating the heater body to adjust the proportion of the air stream which is allowed to flow through the heater body passages. The heater body may be provided with baffles to maintain the air flow constant while the air temperature is varied by rotation of the heater body.

A valve assembly with a water dispersing and spreading system preferrable for use in drip-type beverage maker comprising a housing having a passage extending therethrough with the passage having an inlet, an outlet, and a valve seat therebetween. A thermostatic dish-shaped snap-acting bimetallic disk constitutes the valve member and is positioned in the passage in engagement with the valve seat thereby to block communication through the passage while in the first curvature position and while in the second curvature position to move clear of the valve seat to permit the flow of fluid therepast. The disk is movable from the first curvature position to the second and back again upon changes in temperature of the disk. A spring member biases the disk toward the valve seat in sealing engagement when the disk is in its first curvature position. An abutment in the housing engageable by the center portion of the disk as the disk moves to its second position insures that the periphery of the disk moves clear of the valve seat. In communication with the outlet passage, a plurality of outwardly curved channels are formed in the housing with a dispersing disk centrally blocking the outlet and thereby forcing the flow of fluid through the channels in a radially outward direction.
