A motorized height adjustable table having a support base, a top assembly including a substantially horizontally disposed work surface, and first and second powered drive assemblies for raising and lowering the work surface. The first and second drive assemblies have first and second electric motors and drivingly engage the top assembly for effecting vertical movement of the top assembly to adjust the height of the work surface. A controller is coupled to the first and second drive assemblies for simultaneously controlling the first and second electric motors. The controller senses a relative height displacement between the first and second drive assemblies and de-energizes the motor controlling for the leading drive assembly until the relative difference in height between the first and second drive assemblies is substantially zero.

Height adjustable work surface and control therefor

A system for leveling and securing an overhead cabinet to modular furniture including a pair of spaced posts, each post including a lower end adapted to connect to the modular furniture and an upper end adapted to connect to the overhead cabinet, the upper ends each including a pair of leveling screws so that the overhead cabinet can be both leveled and aligned with adjacent overhead cabinets.

Adjustable support for overhead furniture units

A rotatable and vertically adjustable chair base is disclosed comprising a floor engaging stand, an upstanding tubular post mounted on the stand, a threaded member received by the tubular post and a smooth spindle slidably and rotatably received by the upstanding tubular post. Internal threads are provided in the upstanding tubular post with a split sheet metal sleeve carrying stamped metal threads. The stamped metal threads of the sheet metal sleeve are engaged by a plastic threaded member which takes advantage of the relatively low coefficient of friction between plastic and metal. The spindle rides atop the threaded member, the vertical position of the spindle being determined by the position of the threaded member. Vertical adjustment of the spindle and the chair mounted atop the spindle is achieved with detent means for alternately engaging and disengaging the threaded member. When the chair is unoccupied, the spindle engages the threaded member and is vertically adjustable by rotation of the chair. Under the weight of an occupant the spindle automatically disengages from the threaded member to allow the occupied chair to freely rotate without vertical adjustment of the spindle.

The specification discloses a chair having a seat seated on spaced side rails above an auxiliary seat supporting surface which is spaced slightly below the seat and which shares the load imposed on the seat by a person sitting in it with the side rails and their supporting stretcher, yet allows the seat to give slightly so that the seat feels comfortably yielding.
