An occupant-restraint system is provided for use in a vehicle. The system includes an extensible restraint strap and a mechanism for increasing the length of the extensible strap during sudden vehicle stoppage or slowdown.

According to the present disclosure, a juvenile vehicle seat includes a base providing a seat bottom, a backrest extending upwardly from the base, and a movable headrest. The headrest is mounted for up-and-down movement on the backrest. The juvenile vehicle seat also includes a headrest-height controller configured to control the height of the movable headrest relative to the backrest.

A juvenile seat includes a seat shell and a child-restraint harness coupled to the seat shell. A harness strap included in the child-restraint harness is coupled to a strap-length adjuster included in the juvenile seat and mounted on the seat shell.

A juvenile restraint system includes a juvenile seat and a tether coupled at one end to the juvenile seat and at an opposite end to an anchor provided in a vehicle.

According to the present disclosure, a playyard top rail includes a left rail and a right rail mounted to pivot about a pivot axis relative to the right rail. The playyard top rail further includes a rail lock associated with the left and right rails. The rail lock is configured to lock the right rail to the left rail upon movement of the left and right rails to an in-line erected position and movement of the rail lock in a first direction along the pivot axis to a rail-locking position. Once the rail lock is moved in an opposite second direction along the pivot axis to a rail-releasing position, the left and right rails are free to pivot relative to one another about the pivot axis to assume a side-by-side collapsed position. An extensible cord is coupled at one end to the left rail and at another end to the right rail and supported in the middle on a lock housing containing the rail lock to define a bowed fabric support overlying a portion of the left and right rails.

A folding table includes a table top and a frame. The frame includes side rails hinged together at a table folding axis so the table can be moved between a folded and an opened position. The table includes a latch to secure the table in the opened position. The table includes frame end reinforcement portions including bights extending between opposite frame side rails near the table top ends. The table includes a handle that is movable between a stowed and a carrying position, the handle being pivotable about a portion of a frame member.

A child-restraint apparatus comprises a seat adapted to receive a seated child. An adjuster is used to permit adjustment of a strap that lies across the seated child.

A playyard floor support frame includes a lock hub arranged to lie under a playyard floor, first and second floor support rails arranged to be mounted for movement in rail-receiving channels formed in the lock hub, and a base for receiving and elevating the lock hub above ground underlying the base. The frame further includes a lock controller mounted on the lock hub and configured to move the first and second floor support rails (at the option of a user) toward one another to establish a &ldquo;locked&rdquo; position of the frame and away from one another to establish an &ldquo;unlocked&rdquo; position of the frame.

A two-piece harness retainer is adapted to hold a pair of harness straps in side-by-side relation. A tether is provided to limit pivoting movement of a pivotable latch arm included in one of the pieces included in the harness retainer.

A juvenile seat assembly includes a seat bottom, a crotch strap, and a carrier coupled to the seat bottom for movement relative to the seat bottom. The crotch strap is part of a child-restraint harness included in the seat assembly. The crotch strap is coupled to and moves with the carrier. The carrier is lockable in a plurality of positions relative to the seat bottom.

A canopy for covering the top of a playyard, the canopy comprising a canopy cover, a canopy support adapted to be coupled to a playyard and configured to support the canopy cover, the canopy support includes a rod connector and four support rods, each support rod includes an inner end pivotably coupled to the rod connector and an outer end adapted to be coupled to one of four corner pieces included in the playyard to retain the canopy support on the playyard, and the rod connector includes a connector ring arranged to pass through apertures formed in the inner ends of each support rod to establish a pivot axis of each support rod about the connector ring and about which each support rod is free to pivot relative to the connector ring.

A playyard includes a retainer carried on a canopy frame support rod. The retainer is configured to be coupled to a retainer mount carried on a playyard frame so that a canopy cover attached to the canopy frame support rod is retained in place on the playground.

A canopy support is movable relative to a juvenile seat to raise and lower a canopy with respect to the seat. The canopy support includes a hub mount on each side of the seat, an arched canopy frame, and a hub mount ring for connecting each end of the arched canopy frame to one of the hubs. Each hub mount ring is configured to interact with its companion hub to retain the arch canopy frame in a selected position relative to the seat.

A juvenile transportation system is provided which includes a seat shell detachably mountable on a small base wherein the small base is formed to be mounted on a vehicle seat with a seat belt. The small base is adapted to be mounted on a rear portion of a vehicle seat such that a portion of the seat shell lies on a forward portion of the vehicle seat when the seat shell is coupled with the small base. A large base can also be provided, the seat shell being adapted to be mounted on either the small base or the large base.
