An automatic gap adjustor is provided. The automatic gap adjustor includes an upper cammed disk, a lower cammed disk spaced apart from the upper cammed disk, and a resilient spring element therebetween. The upper cammed disk includes a first plurality of cams on an upper axial surface and a second plurality of cams on a lower axial surface. The lower cammed disk includes a third plurality of cams on an upper axial surface and a fourth plurality of cams on an undercut portion spaced apart from the upper axial surface. Opposing cams can be radially offset from each other, such that reciprocating axial movement of the upper disk relative to the lower disk can achieve a stepped rotation of the upper disk. Rotation of the upper disk can drive the automatic gap adjustor along a threaded support to eliminate a gap along a portion thereof.

Automatic gap adjustor

A wall panel frame arrangement is provided having vertical and horizontal frame rails for having a common cross-sectional profile which facilitates joining thereof at the corners of the frame. Additionally, an improved light block arrangement is provided as a rail which extends horizontally across the frame, which rail is also adaptable for use with respect to a support assembly for supporting power and data communication circuit components thereon. The bottom of the frame further includes connector arrangements which facilitate mounting of either a base raceway cover or a vertically-enlarged cover tile at the same base location of the panel frame.

Wall panel frame arrangement

An upright storage cabinet has a lock assembly which operates a vertically movable lock bar to simultaneously lock all drawers of the cabinet. The lock assembly includes a rotatable cam body which has a resiliently deflectable cam that projects radially therefrom. The cam body is rotatable between a locked position wherein the cam rotates a drive element to vertically displace the lock bar into engagement with the drawers, and an unlocked position wherein the cam allows the drive shaft to return to an initial position which disengages the lock bar from the drawers. The cam generates a driving force on the drive shaft during rotation of the cam body and is also resiliently deflectable to accommodate dimensional variations which varies the radial position of the drive shaft relative to the drive element.

A frame arrangement for use with an interior space-dividing wall system including portable upright panel assemblies. The frame arrangement includes upright post assemblies in supportive engagement with the floor and a cross members which extend laterally between adjacent pairs of the post assemblies. The cross member mounts thereon a cable trough which may be utilized to carry cabling and to support a power distribution assembly including electrical receptacles for providing the panel assemblies with electrical power. The cross member and cable trough are adapted to prevent rotation of the cable trough during insertion and removal of plugs or jacks from the receptacles.

Frame arrangement for a wall panel system

An overhead storage cabinet having a housing defined by top and bottom wall rigidly joined by end walls to define an interior storage compartment therein. A door assembly is vertically swingably mounted on the housing and includes a door panel which vertically closes a front access opening of the housing when in an open position, and which swings upwardly into an open position wherein the door panel is stored generally above the top wall. The door assembly includes end panels which exteriorly overlap and are hingedly couple to the end walls. The end panels mount one or more counterweight elements adjacent the ends thereof to counterbalance the door panel weight. The number or position of counterweight elements is selected in accordance with the longitudinal length of the door panel. The end panel also has an edge profile provided with a grip part which moves between positions disposed adjacent the lower rear and lower front corners of the housing as the door is respectively swingably moved between closed and open positions to facilitate access thereto and convenient manual swinging of the door, particularly in the closing direction. The door panel and top wall of the housing also have an interlock extending longitudinally therealong and engaged when the door is closed to prevent outward bowing of the door relative to the housing.

Overhead storage cabinet

A space-dividing upright wall system wherein wall panels are supported on and connected through upright panel connecting members, the latter having a foot for engagement with a floor. The panel connecting member is preferably of Z-shaped cross section including parallel side legs joined by a diagonally-extending cross wall. Each side leg has an upright row of slots which accommodate hangers associated with components which mount on the wall system. The slots in the two sidewalls are isolated from one another by the cross wall. Each side leg has vertically-extending rows of hooks projecting outwardly from opposite side edges thereof, which hooks cooperate with a pair of generally aligned panels for rigidly joining the panels together. When two adjacent panel assemblies are disposed in generally perpendicular relationship to one another, then the adjacent end edges are each provided with a connecting member secured thereto, and the adjacent pair of connecting members in turn are directly joined together through an intermediate corner connector which engages a row of hooks on the connecting member which is not engaged with the panel assembly.

Separable post/panel system

A wall having an interior channel extending vertically along one and preferably both end edges thereof. This interior channel is closed by an openable door arrangement which can be hingedly moved into an open position so as to uncover one side of the channel and permit cables to be laid directly therein. The door arrangement is externally covered by a portion of the flexible side mat which extends over the entirety of the panel side, including the door, so as to permit the portion thereof over the door to hinge outwardly when the door is opened so that removal of the side mat is not required. The side mat is formed as a continuous covering so as to avoid undesired seam or joint lines.

Wall panel with accessible interior channels for laying in of cables

A portable, prefabricated panel adapted to be connected with a plurality of similar panels to form a wall or partition structure. The panel is electrically prewired and includes electrical power blocks disposed adjacent the opposite lower corners of the panel, which power blocks are connected by electrical cables which extend internally of the panel. When two or more panels are connected together, electrical power is transmitted between each adjacent pair of panels by a flexible electrical connector which plugs into the power blocks of the adjacent panels. The panel also has electrical sockets integrally associated therewith, which sockets are preferably associated with the power blocks. The power blocks are symmetrical so that the same electrical connections can be made on either side of the panel. A channel-like raceway extends along the bottom edge of the panel for permitting the hidden storage of communication cables. The panel preferably has a rectangular frame formed from hollow channel-like members which define an interior path around the complete periphery of the panel to facilitate the feeding of cables and conduits along the vertical or horizontal edges of the panel.

Wall panel with prewired power system

A raceway structure for association with a wall panel so as to enclose and confine power and communication cables which extend longitudinally along the wall panel and longitudinally throughout several series-connected such panels. The raceway structure utilizes a pair of side covers which removably attach to the wall panel and cooperate to define a raceway for enclosing therein electrical terminals and communication cables. The raceway structure has access openings for providing convenient access to the electrical terminals, such as by permitting an electrical receptacle, power feed, or communication cable to be positioned therein or passed therethrough. The side cover has a closure integrally hinged thereto for closing the access opening when use of same is not desired, with the closure being swingable into an open position within the raceway while remaining integrally attached to the cover when use of the opening is desired, whereby different openings can be selectively utilized when desired and then closed again when use of the opening is not desired.

Raceway structure for power panel

A space divider panel having fabric sheets positioned to extend across the side surfaces of the panel, with the edges of the fabric sheets being held by channel-like retainers which extend longitudinally along the panel edges. The improved retainer relies upon a spring-type clip for permitting secure holding of the fabric edge, which clip simplifies insertion of the fabric edge into the retainer while effectively providing a secure one-way holding of the edge to prevent its withdrawal. The spring clip solely holds the fabric edge, and accomplishes this without requiring the use of a deformable bead or strip.

Fabric retainer for panel

An attachment structure for mounting a furniture component, such as a work surface member, on the slotted uprights of a wall panel. The attachment structure is releasably engageable with both the slotted upright and the work surface member, such as a desk top. A hook-carrying support is releasably attached to the upright, and the support in turn has the work surface member releasably attached thereto. A latching device, as mounted on the support, automatically engages the slotted upright to fixedly lock the support thereto only when the work surface member is mounted on and properly engaged with the support. The latching device also causes the front edge of the work surface member to be locked down against the support.

Component locking device

An upright space divider panel having a rigid rectangular frame, and first and second thin sheetlike skins fixed to opposite sides of the frame and extending across the region defined therein. A honeycomb core structure is disposed within the frame and confined between the skins. The honeycomb core structure comprises a cellular honeycomb layer having a plurality of cells formed therein and extending across the width of the layer, so that opposite ends of the cells are closed by the skins. The first and second skins are identical and each have a plurality of openings formed therethrough. The openings in the first skin communicate with a first plurality of the cells for forming a first plurality of sound absorbing chambers which open outwardly through one side of the panel. The openings in the second skin communicate with a second plurality of the cells for forming a second plurality of sound absorbing chambers which open outwardly through the other side of the panel. The cells of the second plurality are different from the cells of the first plurality.

Sound absorbing panel

A movable, prefabricated wall panel having a rigid rectangular frame. A core structure is disposed within the region bounded by the frame, which core structure comprises at least one honeycomb layer. Sheetlike skins are fixedly secured to opposite sides of the frame and extend across the region bounded by the frame for confining the honeycomb layer therebetween. A plurality of small openings are formed in either or both of the skins so that approximately a single opening will communicate with a single cell as defined by the honeycomb layer. The opening and the cell are of a preselected size so as to function as a sound absorbing chamber. The sheetlike skins are also covered by a layer of fibrous sound absorbing material, preferably fiberglass.
