A submersible turbine pump (STP) comprising a manifold, a yoke assembly including a yoke sleeve integrally connected to the manifold, and a packer removably secured to the manifold is provided. The manifold includes an electrical cavity that receives electrical wiring from an external source. The yoke sleeve has a hollow interior and is integrally connected to manifold, and a first end of the yoke sleeve is within the electrical cavity. The packer includes a chamber having a yoke sleeve inlet port and an electrical conduit inlet port. The yoke sleeve inlet port receives a second end of the yoke sleeve extending from the manifold, and the electrical conduit inlet port receives an electrical conduit extending from a pump within an underground storage tank. The electrical wiring passes from the electrical cavity to the chamber through the yoke sleeve and then to the pump through the electrical conduit.

A submersible turbine pump (STP) is provided. The STP includes a manifold having an integral siphon connection coupled to a fuel flow path in the STP and a siphon cartridge removably inserted into the manifold via the siphon connection. In general, the siphon cartridge includes a nozzle that directs fuel from the fuel flow path through a venturi when the STP is energized, thereby creating a vacuum in a chamber within the siphon cartridge. A connection point of the siphon cartridge is fluidly coupled to the chamber such that a fluid connection is provided from the exterior of the siphon cartridge to the vacuum.

The present invention provides a submersible turbine pump (STP) comprising a check valve located within a hydraulics cavity, wherein the STP provides the ability to depressurize the hydraulics cavity by relieving a pressure differential between an inlet side and an outlet side of the check valve. In general, the STP is comprised of a casing body comprising a check valve extraction housing and the hydraulics cavity. The check valve is located within the hydraulics cavity and is comprised of a check valve stem, an inlet side, and an outlet side. The check valve extraction housing comprises a lock-down screw adapted to attach to the check valve stem and apply a force to the check valve to open the check valve, thereby relieving the pressure differential between the inlet side and the outlet side.

A pump housing that contains a pump that draws fuel from an underground storage tank containing fuel to deliver to fuel dispensers in a service station environment. The pump is coupled to a double-walled fuel pipe that carries the fuel from the pump to the fuel dispensers. The double-walled fuel piping contains an inner annular space that carries the fuel and an outer annular space that captures any leaked fuel from the inner annular space. The outer annular space is maintained through the fuel piping from the pump to the fuel dispensers so that the outer annular space can be pressurized by a pump to determine if a leak exists in the outer annular space or so that fuel leaked from the inner annular space can be captured by a leak containment chamber in the pump housing.

Secondary containment leak prevention and detection system and method

A submersible turbine pump includes a power head enclosed in a casing. A vacuum source associated with the submersible turbine pump draws a vacuum in the interior space of the casing. A pressure sensor may be used to monitor the vacuum in the interior space to detect a leak in the power head or the casing. If a leak is detected, an alarm may be generated and the submersible turbine pump may be deactivated.

Power head secondary containment leak prevention and detection system and method

A manifold for a submersible turbine pump having an air bleed mechanism for removing air from a discharge chamber of the manifold. The manifold includes the discharge chamber that receives fuel pumped from an underground storage tank (UST), the air bleed mechanism, an air return path coupled to the UST, and a bypass tube coupled to the air return path. When the air bleed mechanism is activated, the fuel discharge chamber is fluidly coupled to the bypass tube, thereby allowing air from the fuel discharge chamber to flow to the ullage of the UST. In one embodiment, the air bleed mechanism is an air bleed screw inserted into a threaded orifice in the manifold. The threaded orifice is coupled to both the bypass tube and the fuel discharge chamber. When the air bleed screw is rotated upward, the bypass tube is coupled to the fuel discharge chamber.

Air bleed mechanism for a submersible turbine pump

A pump housing contains a pump that draws fuel from an underground storage tank to deliver fuel to fuel dispensers in a service station environment. The pump is coupled to a double-walled riser pipe that carries the fuel from the underground storage tank to the pump. The double-walled fuel piping contains an inner space that carries the fuel and an outer annular space that captures any leaked fuel from the inner space. The outer annular space is coupled to a vacuum created by the pump to determine if a leak exists in the outer annular space. An alternate submersible turbine pump has a double-walled housing with a pressure sensor disposed in the interstitial space of the double-walled housing. A vacuum may be created therein to determine if leaks are present in the housing of the submersible turbine pump.

A vacuum generator that is coupled to a double-walled fuel supply piping internal to a fuel dispenser that carries the fuel from the underground storage tank to the hose and nozzle of the fuel dispenser. The double-walled fuel supply piping contains an inner piping that carries the fuel. An interstitial space is formed by the space between the inner piping and an outer piping that surrounds the inner piping to capture any leaked fuel from the inner piping. The interstitial space is coupled to a vacuum created by the vacuum generator to determine if a leak exists in the interstitial space. The vacuum generator may be a standalone unit or may be a submersible turbine pump that also pumps fuel from the underground storage tank to the fuel dispenser.

Secondary containment leak prevention and detection system and method in fuel dispenser

A storage tank leak detection and prevention system that detects a breach or leak in the interstitial space of a double-walled fuel storage tank in a service station environment. The interstitial space is placed under a vacuum using a submersible turbine pump that is also used to pump fuel to the fuel dispensers in the service station and therefore a separate vacuum generating source is not required. A sensing unit and/or tank monitor monitors the vacuum level in the interstitial space over time. If a significant vacuum level change occurs in the interstitial space after the interstitial space is placed under a vacuum level, a catastrophic leak detection alarm is generated. If a minor vacuum level change occurs in the interstitial space after the interstitial space is placed under a vacuum, a precision leak detection alarm is generated. Functional tests also ensure that the leak detection system is functioning properly.

A keyboard system comprises a circuit board having a matrix of contact switches. A module comprises a matrix of keys in actuating correspondence with the contact switches. The keys are of a resilient elongated form having at the terminus an upwardly projecting contact button and a pair of downwardly projecting pegs. One peg contacts a contact switch for actuation thereof. The other peg is receivable in a recess in the circuit board for maintaining alignment of the key. The module also forms a support for an overlying membrane wherein manual depressing of selective locations of the membrane actuates a corresponding contact switch.
