An aqueous polymer dispersion containing a vinyl polymer and a nonionic water-dispersible polyurethane having pendent polyoxyethylene chains, the vinyl polymer having been formed by the free radical polymerization of at least one vinyl monomer in the presence of an aqueous dispersion of the polyurethane.
