A child safety seat and base assembly wherein a base is arranged to be secured with respect to a motor vehicle and a seat is arranged to be removably secured is disclosed. The assembly includes: a rotary element rotatably mounted to the base; a seat latch on the rotary element that engages the child safety seat to releasably hold the child safety seat to the base and rotary element; a seat latch actuation assembly for opening or closing the seat latch wherein opening the seat latch releases the child safety seat; and an interlock mechanism actuated upon opening the seat latch that prevents rotation of the rotary element with respect to the base. The seat latch actuation assembly may include a slidably mounted handle, wherein in use, the base blocks access to the handle when the seat is in any position other than one or two side-loading position(s).

Child safety seat with a triggerable harness belt tensioning mechanism

An apparatus for a child safety seat is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a releasable connector configured to engage with an anchoring point provided in a vehicle to secure the child safety seat to the vehicle, wherein the releasable connector is movable relative to the child safety seat in a first direction; the apparatus further comprises a braking element coupled to the releasable connector and configured to decelerate a movement of the releasable connector in the first direction if an accelerating force acting on the releasable connector in the first direction exceeds a predetermined threshold.

Apparatus for use in a child safety seat

Child safety seat

The child safety seat for a vehicle in accordance with the invention comprises an outer shell enclosing a seating area for a child and a protective element. The protective element comprises a housing component and an impact component, wherein the housing component is embedded into the outer shell and the impact component is mounted to the housing component, is configured to be enclosed at least partially by the housing component, and is configured to protrude laterally from the outer shell in a direction facing away from the seating area. An airbag module comprises a gas generator, a gas bag, and a gas guiding device which is connected to the gas bag and the gas generator. The gas guiding device comprises at least one outflow opening, through which the gas of the gas generator in the gas bag is guided. The airbag module will not be damaged or only slightly damaged if the airbag module is externally heated, for example, in a fire. The airbag module is configured such that if the gas generator is undesirably released, if the generator is externally heated, the airbag module is thrust-neutral.

An active bolster adjustment apparatus for use in vehicle seats includes a mounting plate connected with the vehicle seat. An adjustable bolster slider is in sliding communication with the mounting plate, and has an adjustment arm and a pressure surface. A drive unit having an actuator and a gear set and the gear set is in direct communication with the adjustable bolster slider.

An ergonomic support mountable on various seat frames has a static portion with anchors and mounts. The mounts adapt to fix said static portion to varying seat frames. A braking actuator for an ergonomic support is connected thereto by a Bowden cable. The actuator has a housing with pin slots, friction surfaces and a mount for a disk axle. A disk has frictional surfaces, holes with pin load edges, a Bowden cable wire seat that holds the Bowden cable end and an axle that is supported by the mount in the housing. The friction surfaces of the disk and housing engage each other to brake the actuator and the ergonomic support. A lever having pins is disposed on the housing such that the pins extend through the pin slots to engage the holes in the disk. Turning the lever disengages the friction surfaces and rotates the disk, thereby moving the ergonomic support. Releasing the lever engages the frictional surfaces such that movement of the ergonomic support is braked at a selected position.

Apparatus and method for braking ergonomic support actuator

A safety belt apparatus for motor vehicles comprising a safety belt and a deflecting device for the safety belt which is connected to a holder which can be fastened to the vehicle via an absorption unit. The deflecting device being movable in an absorption direction by forces occurring relative to the holder with a pulling movement of the safety belt caused by an accident while overcoming an opposing absorption resistance of the absorption unit. The deflecting device being hindered from making a movement in the absorption direction with forces occurring in normal operation. The absorption unit being changeable in shape by the deflecting device moving in the absorption direction in order to overcome the absorption resistance.
