An in-store adhesive marketing signage method that allows semi-rigid and rigid store signage cards to conform to store shelves includes placing a crease/score on the cards above a bump on a label holder. The crease/score then relieves force on the cards and thereby eliminates the initiation of peeling away from the label holder.

A print job includes a container page, product pages, and a stacking pattern. Methods and systems automatically pattern a first material according to a container pattern specified by the container page to output a flat and patterned container sheet to a stacking location, and automatically fold the flat and patterned container sheet at the stacking location to form a three-dimensional container. Further, such methods and systems automatically print markings specified by the product pages on additional sheets of material. Then, after forming the three-dimensional container and printing the markings, such methods and systems automatically pattern the additional sheets of material according to a product pattern specified by the product pages to output product items to the stacking location. Further, such methods and systems automatically stack the product items in the three-dimensional container. The container pattern has a specific size and shape to accommodate the stacking pattern.

In a system, at least two picker support elements are positioned adjacent a transport surface that is moving workpieces, and at least two picking elements are connected to each of the picker support elements. The picking elements have physical picking features that remove the workpieces from the transport surface and move the workpieces to another location. A controller is operatively connected to the picker support elements and the picking elements, and the controller independently controls the picker support elements and the picking elements to dynamically position the picking elements in coordination with a dynamic size, spacing, and transport speed of the workpieces being moved by the transport surface.

Methods and systems output printed items based on a job of instructions from a printing device; cut the printed items into cut items and output the cut items to a first location based on the job of instructions using a patterning device; and pick the cut items from the first location and place the cut items on a first conveyor based on the job of instructions using a robotic arm. The first conveyor is adjacent the first location. Further, methods and systems transport the cut items to a receiving conveyor based on the job of instructions using the first conveyor. The receiving conveyor is adjacent the first conveyor. Also, methods and systems move the receiving conveyor to position the receiving conveyor to receive specific ones of the cut items in corresponding locations based on the job of instructions.

In a system, one or more robotic arms are positioned adjacent a transport surface that is moving workpieces, and one or more picking elements are connected to each of the robotic arms. The picking elements have physical picking features that remove the workpieces from the transport surface and move the workpieces to another location. A controller is operatively connected to the robotic arms and the picking elements, and the controller independently controls the robotic arms and the picking elements to dynamically position the picking elements in coordination with a dynamic size, spacing, and transport speed of the workpieces being moved by the transport surface.

A belt cleaning system to clean a conveyor belt carrier surface includes a first cleaning assembly having a cleaning web sub-assembly. The cleaning web sub-assembly includes a supply roller, a take-up roller, a cleaning web and an applicator. The cleaning web extends from a supply of clean cleaning web wound on the supply roller to the take-up roller. The applicator is disposed intermediate the supply roller and the take-up roller to bias the cleaning web into contact with the conveyor belt carrier surface. The belt cleaning system may also include a second cleaning assembly positioned after the first cleaning assembly in the direction of travel of the conveyor belt. The cleaning webs of the first and second cleaning web sub-assemblies may be dry or wetted with a cleaning liquid.

Embodiments herein comprise an apparatus that includes a printing engine and an interposer adapted to receive printed sheets from the printing engine. The interposer adds insert sheets between printed sheets. The interposer includes a decurler positioned within the interposer so as to decurl the printed sheets after the interposer adds the insert sheets. The printing engine adds a curl to the printed sheets and the decurler removes the curl from the printed sheets. The decurler can comprise a roller-based decurler, a heated decurler, a pressure based decurler, and/or a moisture-vacuum based decurler.

Ink-jet printing systems and methods are presented for decurling cut sheet print media for ink-jet printing, in which the cut sheets are transported along a path with a moisture source directing water droplets or mist toward all or a portion of a first side of the sheets in a moisturizing zone extending across the path to decurl the sheets prior to transportation past an ink-jet printing head with the first side of the cut sheets facing the printing head to receive ink droplets ejected by the printing head.

An active stack height sensing mechanism that operates through a cam off a disc stacker which performs one cycle per sheet stacked. After a sheet is stacked, a stack height clamp contacts the stack and stops. If the stack height is too low or within a predetermined range, a flag attached to the clamp will block a light beam path between an emitter and receiver and trip the stack height sensor. If the stack height is too high, the stack height sensor will not be made indicating that the stacker should be indexed down.

A sheet stacking apparatus for stacking a wide variety of sheets including flimsy sheets has a rotatable disc that receives each sheet in a slot thereof and inverting the sheets. A transport belt is closely adjacent one surface area of the disc and has a portion thereof positioned at an acute angle with respect to a line tangent to the one surface of the disc so that the trail edge of all sheets being inverted by the disc contact the belt and are inverted.

A movable gate is provided adjacent an input position of a slotted rotatable disk for aiding in the insertion of sheets into the disk slot(s). The movable gate moves between a first position and a second position wherein the first position is closer to the disk than the second position. When in the first position, the movable gate contacts and directs the leading portion of a sheet into the disk slot. When in the second position, the movable gate does not contact the sheet. The gate is moved to the second position at least while the trailing portion of the sheet passes thereunder so that the sheet does not slow down after exiting a pair of input rollers located upstream thereof and so that the trailing portion of the sheet is free to contact an overhead trail edge transport belt.

An air knife pressure calibration system and method for a bottom vacuum corrugation recirculating document feeder includes measuring the air pressure and adjusting an air pressure control valve of the air knife to a predetermined value. This valve position is stored in a non-volatile memory and can be used to create a table of values for various document stack heights by adding constant values that represent additional documents to the one document value. Thus, customized valve positions are accomplished that are machine as well as altitude sensitive.

A vacuum corrugation feeder stack height detection calibration system and method includes placing a single document in the document tray. Coupled to the stack height arm at the pivot point is a high resolution rotary encoder and dual beam sensor. The stack height arm is flipped up and then back down onto the document and pulses are counted. This difference in up and down pulses represents the 'one sheet case.' Software then stores this number in non-volatile memory and uses it to create a table of values for various document stack heights by adding constant values to the originally obtained 'one sheet case' value.
