A package having a re-sealable seal is formed from a flexible sheet having its opposite longitudinal edge portions sealed together to form a tubular structure with a permanent longitudinal seal. Two permanent end seals are formed transversely across the tubular structure to seal the product inside the package. A re-sealable seal is formed adjacent one of the permanent seals. The re-sealable seal is formed by a pressure-sensitive adhesive applied to a first region of the inner surface of the sheet proximate the one permanent seal and a heat seal coating applied over the pressure-sensitive adhesive so as to cover the pressure-sensitive adhesive. and a heat seal coating applied over a second region of the inner surface of the sheet. The first and second regions of the inner surface are placed in contact with each other and the heat seal coatings thereon are sealed together to initially form the re-sealable seal. When the first and second regions of the sheet are pulled apart upon opening of the package, the pressure-sensitive adhesive separates from the first region and remains with the second region. The second region is pressed against the first region to reclose the package.

Package having re-sealable end closure and method for making same

A flexible package for a product includes a resealable closure for resealing one portion of the package to an opposing portion of the package. The resealable closure is formed by applying a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive on the inner surface of at least one of the opposing portions of the package, and applying a layer of cohesive to the inner surface of both of the opposing portions so that the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is covered by a layer of cohesive. The pressure-sensitive adhesive has a greater affinity for adhering to the cohesive than to the inner surface of the package. Accordingly, pressure-sensitive adhesive is detached from the inner surface of the package when the opposing portions are pulled apart, and the portions can be resealed by pressing the portions back together to cause the pressure-sensitive adhesive to adhere to the portion from which is was detached.

Resealable closure and method of making same

Polyester resins are disclosed as the impregnant in the core sheets of heat and pressure consolidated laminates, especially decorative laminates having a core of a color complementing that of the decor sheet, and more especially those decorative laminates of unusual thickness.

Decorative laminates and method of producing same

A decorative laminate comprising a core of at least one sheet of saturating kraft paper impregnated with a blend of a phenol/formaldehyde resin and a cross-linked, acrylic copolymer and optionally, a melamine/formaldehyde resin, and a decor sheet impregnated with (1) a first blend of a melamine/formaldehyde resin and a cross-linked, acrylic copolymer and (2) a second blend of a melamine/formaldehyde resin and an abrasive material, and a method for the production thereof, are disclosed.

Decorative laminate

A novel release sheet comprising a web of paper having a water absorption of at least about 200 seconds which has been sized on at least one side thereof with a water-soluble, alkaline earth or earth metal salt, e.g. a calcium salt such as calcium chloride and then coated on said sized side with a film of a mixture of a salt of alginic acid, such as sodium alginate, and either (1) a triglyceride or (2) hydrolyzed or non-hydrolyzed lecithin, and a method of producing decorative laminates therewith.

A novel method of releasing from one another in a press pack, a plurality of heat and pressure consolidated resin-impregnated laminates, including those pressed back-to-back, e.g. decorative laminates, metal clad laminates, veneer backs and the like, which method comprises utilizing, as a separator sheet, a web of phenol-formaldehyde resin-free paper having a water absorption of at least about 200 seconds which has been sized on at least one side thereof, from an aqueous solution, with a water-soluble, alkaline earth or earth metal salt, e.g. a calcium salt such as calcium chloride, and then coated on said sized side with a film of a salt of alginic acid, such as sodium alginate.
