The different illustrative embodiments provide a method for augmenting reality that may be applied to repairs performed on a composite structure. An image may be recorded of a first layer of a composite component. The image may relate to a first repair performed at a first time. Physical data may be captured for the composite component from a surface layer of the composite component using a number of portable devices. A multi-dimensional representation of a combined augmented reality of the composite component including a display of various layers of the composite component selected by a user may be generated. A user selection may include a time restriction and a spatial restriction. The number of portable devices may display the multi-dimensional representation comprising physical data for an image of the surface of the composite component and digital data for an overlay of composite layers beyond the surface.

Portable augmented reality

One aspect of the disclosure relates to an apparatus including an extrusion nozzle. The nozzle includes an inlet end, an outlet end opposite the inlet end and an axis extending between the inlet end and the outlet end. The extrusion nozzle is configured to rotate about the axis. The extrusion nozzle also includes a rotary drive engagement portion between the inlet end and the outlet end. The extrusion nozzle further includes a cavity including an inlet opening at the inlet end and an outlet opening at the outlet end. The inlet opening has a different configuration than the outlet opening.

Extrusion apparatus and method

The different advantageous embodiments provide a system comprising a processor unit, a sensor system, and a user interface. The processor unit is configured to execute a data manipulation process. The sensor system is configured to retrieve physical data about a number of physical objects. The user interface has data manipulation controls for the data manipulation process.

A method is provided for generating a data product that allows for enhanced design, analysis and manufacture of a composite structure comprising a plurality of plies. The method comprises the steps of obtaining geometric ply definitions, inputting the geometric ply definitions into a computer aided manufacturing (CAM) software program to generate a numerically coded tool path definition containing centerline data for each tape or tow comprising a ply, programming tape or tow course shape definitions of a plurality of plies in CAM to produce actual ply definitions, using CAM to generate an accumulated dataset of actual ply definitions, using a customized software program to analyze the dataset to obtain a data product containing results relating to manufacturing implementation of the actual ply definitions, and using the customized software program to evaluate and visualize potential impact of the data product and to interrogate the data product.

Method of analyzing composite structures

A three dimensional Computer Aided Design (CAD) model of a composite part to include a plurality of plies is described. The model includes an explicit representation for each individual ply utilized to form the composite part, where each individual ply is created as one of a solid or tessellated volume. Each ply representation is in a proper spatial orientation with related component definitions.

Methods and systems for explicit representation of composite structures

A three dimensional computer aided design (CAD) model of a composite part which includes a plurality of plies including tool side ply(s), and bag side ply(s) is provided. The composite part is formed on a tool. The model includes a first CAD native surface representative of the shape of the tool, a second CAD native shape representative of an excess ply material and made from the first shape, and a third CAD native shape representative of the bag side ply(s) and adjacent to the joined first and second shapes. In particular, the CAD native shapes used to represent the ply(s) may be trims of a surface.
