Tetrahydrotricyclopentadienes are isomerized to a low pour point, high energy missile fuel. Aluminum trichloride is the catalyst and an inert chlorinated hydrocarbon solvent is present. The mole ratio of AlClto the diene is in the range between from about 0.005 to about 1.0. The isomerization temperature is in the range from between about &#x2212;20&#xb0; C. to about 25&#xb0; C.

Isomerization of tetrahyd rotricyclopentadienes to missile fuel

Tetrahydrodimethyldicyclopentadiene is catalytically isomerized to a liquid isomeric mixture having a suitable low temperature viscosity making it suitable as a missile fuel. The catalyst comprises an acidic alumina. Hydrogen is also present and in an amount sufficient to maintain the isomerization activity of the alumina. The elevated temperature is sufficient to cause isomerization.

Process for isomerization of tetrahydrodimethyldicyclopentadiene

Endo-tetrahydroalkyldicyclopentadienes are mildly isomerized with AlCl.sub.3 whereby the changes in pour point and viscosities are such that the resulting isomeric mixture can be used as a diluent for a higher viscosity hydrocarbon missile fuel. The isomerication is such that essentially no alkyl-adamantanes are formed. The mole ratio of AlCl.sub.3 to the tetrahydrodienes is in the range from between about 0.001 to about 0.5. The temperature is in the range between from about 0.degree. C to about 100.degree. C.

Process for improving the low temperature properties of

Endo-tetrahydrodicyclopentadiene is isomerized to its exo-isomer in the presence of aluminum trichloride at a temperature in the range between from about -.degree. C to about 90.degree. C. The mole ratio of AlCl.sub.3 to the tetrahydrodiene is in the range between from about 0.001 to about 0.75. An inert solvent may also be used. The very facile isomerization is essentially quantitative. The exoisomer has utility as a relatively high BTU/gallon, viscosity-lowering difluent for a missile fuel.

Isomerization of endo-tetrahydrodicyclopentadiene to a missile fuel

Mixed tetrahydropolycyclopentadienes are isomerized in the presence of anhydrous aluminum trichloride to form an additive suitable for use with a high energy missile fuel. The amount of aluminum trichloride present is such that the weight ratio of trichloride to the tetrahydropolydiene is in the range between from about 0.005 to about 0.75. Also the isomerization involves an inert solvent and is at a temperature between from about -20.degree. C to about 25.degree. C. Also anhydrous hydrogen chloride is present to facilitate the isomerization.

Isomerization of tetrahydropolycyclopentadienes to a missile fuel

Wax-in-water emulsion compositions containing 0.05 to 10 percent of a stability improving compound of the structural formula: ##STR1## wherein Q and Q' are substituents each selected from the group consisting of --NH.sub.2, --NHCH.sub.3, --NHC.sub.2 H.sub.5, --CH.sub.3, --C.sub.2 H.sub.5 and to the methods of preparing said compositions.

Stabilized wax emulsions

A laundry oil containing 0.02 to 2.0 weight percent 8-hydroxyquinoline as an antibacterial agent and the process of laundering mops and other fabrics used to wipe dust with such oil. In a preferred aspect of the invention the mops, etc. are laundered directly with the oil. When copper is present in the laundering apparatus the laundry oil preferably contains 0.0001 to 0.5 weight percent benzotriazole.

Antibacterial laundry oil and dust control composition

A laundry oil contains 0.0001 to 0.10 weight percent phenyl mercury oleate as an antibacterial agent. Also disclosed is the process of laundering fabrics used to wipe dust with such an oil and a concentrate for adding to an oil prior to its use as a laundry oil.
