A holographic optical system includes a hologram which is located at an instrument panel so as to reflect or transmit an image from a source located off the panel. The image is redirected only to an area at which the viewer may observe the image and is not directed to other areas so as to prevent unwanted reflections and glare such as where the instrument panel is within an aircraft cockpit.

Holographic optical element for instrument panel displays

The invention provides an inflatable sleeping bag having a wall structure defining a sleeping envelope and including outer and inner skins spaced from one another in use. A shoulder cover is provided which is held in place by engaging an inflated pillow. A double zipper holds the upper and lower portions of the bag together in such a way that internal air pressure prevents the leakage of air into or out of the occupant's area of the bag. A plurality of strap structures are attached between the skins to hold the skins generally in parallel one with the other after inflation, and an insulating material is contained between the skins and located against movement by the strap structures. Inflation means is associated with the wall structure for inflating the bag and including exhaust means operable to deflate the bag. The strap structures can be used in any similar inflated structure.

Insulated sleeping bag

A holographic optical element is applied over existing aircraft panel and instruments thereon so as to display an image which is reflected from a source located off the panel. The image is reflected only to an area at which the viewer may observe the image and is not directed to other areas so as to prevent unwanted reflections and glare within the aircraft cockpit.

A ground support vehicle has a rear drive track. Cleats extending transversely of the outer surface of the track are outwardly curved to facilitate leaning of the vehicle and its rider as the vehicle travels around a curve. In a preferred embodiment the vehicle includes a ski mounted on front forks so that the vehicle can be used for recreational purposes in snow or directly on unpaved ground and tracks. A wheel can be fitted in place of the ski if desired.

Endless belt driven cycle

The invention provides an artificial horizon device having a light source of limited power which can be positioned remotely from the aircraft cockpit. A scanning mechanism is mounted in the cockpit to receive light from the light source and to project a light bar representing the true horizon by scanning a projected light beam along the perceived bar at a frequency sufficiently high that the bar is perceived as a continuous projection.

Artificial horizon device

A mat having layers of impermeable material adapted to inflation as an air-mattress, inflatable blanket or component of a sleeping bag, and containing an insulating amount of a lofting shredded matallized plastic web, and having a valve means for inflation and deflation of the mat. The insulating plastic web may comprise a plurality of webs of metallized plastic film, said webs having at least sections thereof in strip form, oriented randomly in non-planar configurations. The impermeable material is made from plasticized material such as urethane coated nylon fabric or plastic coated cotton fabric.

Inflatable sleeping bag

The invention provides a peripheral vision horizon device for use in projecting a light bar on the interior of an aircraft cockpit or the like to indicate pitch and roll, the light bar being located with reference to a datum in the cockpit. The device includes a housing having a first part attachable to the cockpit and a second part rotatably coupled to the first part for movement about a first axis which on assembly in the aircraft extends transversely of the cockpit. A lens carrier is rotatably coupled to the second part for rotation about a second axis which is at right angles to the first axis. A light source is contained in the housing and an optical system is coupled to the housing for directing light from the light source towards the lens carrier along the second axis. A lens of two-fold symmetry is mounted in the lens carrier transversely of the second axis for receiving said light and projecting a beam of light which strikes the interior of the cockpit to create the light bar. Control means are also coupled to the housing, the control means being operable to move the second part about the first axis to indicate pitch and to move the lens carrier about the second axis to indicate roll. Consequently, deviation of the position of the light bar from the datum will indicate the orientation of the aircraft relative to a horizontal plane containing the light bar.
