The disclosed apparatus is a tool for adjusting a hinge. The tool comprises a head having a first jaw portion and an opposite-facing second jaw portion. The first jaw portion and the second jaw portion define an opening which has the same shape as a cross-section of the knuckles of the hinge. The apparatus further comprises a handle attached to the head. Because the tool engages the knuckles of the hinge at the back of the knuckles, there is no unsightly scratching of the hinge. A method of use of the tool is also disclosed.

A steam sterilizable pouch is disclosed. The pouch includes a non-woven steam-permeable bottom web. A multi-layer intermediate web is bonded to the bottom web. The multi-layer web is substantially steam impermeable, except for a perforated steam-permeable region. The intermediate web includes top and bottom layers. A steam-impermeable top web is bonded by a first line heat seal to the top layer of the intermediate web. A cavity having a heat sealable access opening is located between the top web and the top layer. At least a portion of the first line heat seal is peelable after steam sterilization of the pouch at 270.degree. F., the peel strength being from 3/4 to 5 pounds per inch. The bonding of the intermediate web to the bottom web is by a second line heat seal that is located peripherally outside of the perforated steam permeable region of the intermediate web.

Sterilizable flexible peel-seal pouch package

A sterilizable multiple layer packaging film comprising a first outer layer comprising polypropylene or propylene copolymers, a core layer comprising polyisobutylene modified high density polyethylene and a second outer layer of about 100% to 10% polyisobutylene modified high density polyethylene or at least one copolymer thereof.

Sterilizable packaging film

Novel films are disclosed which contain blends of ethylene-based copolymers or other elastomers with polypropylene and polyethylene. Typical films have two-five layers wherein at least one layer is a blend of high density polyethylene with an ethylene-based copolymer or another elastomer and has additional layers of polypropylene blended with an ethylene-based copolymer or another elastomer.

Multiple layer films, and novel polymer compositions, for use in packaging sterile medical products and shelf stable foods. The films include at least two layers of modified polypropylene-based compositions, and optionally a third layer of polypropylene-based composition. The two layers of the film comprise polypropylene polymers having melting point temperatures, differing by at least 3.degree. C., with corresponding ethylene contents disparate by at least 1 weight percent ethylene. In 2-layer films, the compositions include ethylene butene-1 copolymer in both layers, and optionally an elastomer in either or both layers. Three and four layer films are set forth wherein outer polypropylene based layers protect the inner layers, as of the two layer composition, from bonding to corresponding portions of adjacent like layers. The films can be fabricated into packages formed as by heat sealing.

Polymeric compositions and films

The invention discloses a multiple layer film useful in packaging, and the packages made therefrom. A first layer of the film is a material containing an ester group, a polycarbonate or a polyether block amide copolymer. A second layer of the film is a sealant, preferably polypropylene polymer blended with an elastomeric styrene ethylene butylene styrene copolymer. A third functionally adhesive layer is between the first and second layers. The composition of the third adhesive layer is typically either a polypropylene modified with a carboxy group such as an organic acid or anhydride or a styrene ethylene butylene styrene copolymer.

Multiple layer packaging films and packages formed thereof

A multipurpose article holding tray is disclosed for use in an automobile body including a container for removable interfitting within a traylike receptacle. The container is divided into compartments for receipt of litter, liquid beverage containers, note paper, and pencils. In the preferred form, the receptacle includes dividers for holding cassette tapes. The receptacle includes a skirt-like marginal rim which defines the recess for removably holding the container and which includes sets of convex lower marginal edges in the end walls and in the side walls for straddling the tunnel hump of an automobile body of various sizes. The receptacle is removably held to the automobile body against displacement by forces caused by movement and/or jarring of the automobile body by studs depending from the bottom wall of the receptacle which are gripped by an element secured to the automobile body such as by adhesive. In the preferred form, the gripping element includes apertures of a size and shape complementary to and for a gripping and frictional interrelation with the studs of the receptacle.

Multiple layer packaging films and packages formed therefrom

This invention pertains to the use of polymer blends in making multiple layer films. In some layers, the elastomer or ethylene-based copolymer is blended with polypropylene, and in some layers, with polyethylene. Typical films have two to five layers. In multilayer films, at least one layer of a blend of polyethylene, preferably high density polyethylene, with elastomer and/or ethylene-based copolymers. Another layer is polypropylene blended with elastomers and/or ethylene-based copolymers. The films may have as few as two layers, one each having polypropylene and polyethylene, preferably high density polyethylene. Additional layers may be added to the two or three layer films taught herein, for variety of purposes.
