A medical gas alarm system for use in a healthcare facility having a medical gas system and having a network of computer devices is provided. The alarm system includes at least one area alarm controller adapted to receive a first signal indicative of a condition of a first portion of the medical gas system. The area alarm controller is adapted to communicate with the network. The alarm system also includes at least one master alarm controller adapted to receive a second signal indicative of a condition of a second portion of the medical gas system. The master alarm controller is adapted to communicate with the network. The area alarm controller is adapted to communicate with the master alarm controller through the network.

Medical gas alarm system

An outlet dust cover, for attachment to a back plate having a wall plate formed to include an aperture within which a valve controlling gas flow in a pipe is received, includes a plate, a valve actuator located in the plate and arranged to be positioned adjacent the valve when the plate is positioned adjacent the wall plate, the valve actuator having a first state in which the valve is not actuated and a second state wherein the valve is actuated, and a vent extending through the cover and positioned to be in communication with the pipe.

Dust cover

A gas valve apparatus is configured to receive a gas specific adapter. The apparatus includes a gas valve body having a first keying mechanism, and a cap coupled to the gas valve body. The cap includes a keyed front face having a gas outlet configured to receive the gas specific adapter. The cap also includes a second keying mechanism configured to mate with the first keying mechanism on the gas valve body to permit the cap to be coupled to the valve body.

A pneumatic oxygen conserver used with a single-tube cannula. The conserver includes a body having first and second cavities. A main diaphragm divides the first cavity into first and second chambers. An inlet passage delivers oxygen from a supply to the first chamber, and an outlet passage delivers oxygen from the first chamber to the cannula. The main diaphragm is movable between a closed position preventing oxygen flow through the outlet passage and an open position permitting flow. A first flow control passage connects the inlet passage and the second chamber, and a first flow control orifice in the passage restricts flow. A sensing diaphragm divides the second cavity into third and fourth chambers. A second flow control passage connects the second and third chambers, and a second flow control orifice in the passage restricts flow. The sensing diaphragm is movable between a closed position preventing flow through the second passage and an open position permitting such flow. A vent passage vents the third chamber. A sensing passage connects the outlet passage and the fourth chamber. Inhalation into the cannula moves the sensing diaphragm to its open position to vent the second and third chambers causing the main diaphragm to move to its open position for delivering oxygen to the cannula.

Pneumatic oxygen conserver

A medical gas alarm system is provided which includes a sensor unit pneumatically connected to a medical gas supply line and a switch connected to a valve in the supply line for detecting the open condition of the valve. In the event either the sensor detects a high pressure or low pressure condition in the supply line or the switch is activated by closing of the valve, an alarm signal is received by an alarm module and an alarm is activated. The alarm may be visual, audible or both. During normal operations, the alarm module displays both a system on condition and a digital display indicating the pressure in the supply line. The invention also includes a method of monitoring the condition of a medical gas delivery system which includes sensing the pressure in the gas supply line, detecting the open condition of the valve, transmitting an alarm signal to an alarm module in response to alarm conditions detected either as a result of improper pressure or valve closure, and generating a humanly perceptible alarm warning in response to receipt of an alarm signal.

A connector set adapted for releasably connecting a gas conduit from a gas appliance or the like to a gas line to provide gas to the appliance. The connector set comprises a nipple adapted to be connected to the gas conduit and a receptacle adapted to be connected to the gas line. The receptacle has a socket adapted to receive the nipple, and first and second valves. The valves are each operable between an open position and a closed position and arranged so that gas can pass from the gas line to the socket only when both valves are in their open positions. The receptacle further includes a mechanism for operating the second valve as the first valve is operated so that the second valve opens when the first valve opens and closes when the first valve closes. The first valve is operable only when the nipple is in the socket, and the nipple is removable from the socket only when the first valve is in its closed position.

Connector set

An excess pressure and/or excess flow/temperature shutoff valve comprising a valve housing having an axial bore therethrough with inlet and outlet ends, a portion of the bore being enlarged to form a valve chamber, and a spool movable in the valve chamber and having a sealing fit with the walls of the chamber. In the event of an upstream pressure increase of predetermined magnitude, the spool is adapted to move from an open position in which it permits flow of fluid through the bore to a position wherein additional spool area is exposed to the upstream fluid pressure, whereupon the spool is adapted to move further downstream to a shut off position for blocking the flow of fluid through the bore. The valve may be optionally equipped to shut off the flow of fluid in the event of a downstream pressure decrease as a result of excess leakage and/or an increase in fluid temperature in excess of a predetermined value.
