A turbocharger () is provided with one or more movement control members () that are connected to the housing () and limit axial movement of the adjustment ring (). The members () can be inserted into one or more holes () formed in the housing () and can extend from the holes () in a direction towards the adjustment ring (). The holes () can be through-holes, blind-holes or combinations thereof. Various connection structures and methods can be used to affix the members () to the housing () including self-locking members, casting, heat welding, friction welding, vibration hammering and staking.

A vane ring assembly which includes a lower vane ring (), an upper vane ring (), one or more guide vanes () positioned at least partially between the vane rings, and a plurality of spacers (, or) positioned between the lower and upper vane rings for maintaining a distance between the lower and upper vane rings. By using a first set of fasteners () to fasten the lower vane ring to the turbine housing, and a second set of fasteners () to fasten the lower vane ring to the upper vane ring, the vane ring assembly is effectively decoupled from the turbine housing with regard to differential thermal expansion, and the co-planerism of the vane rings is easier to maintain.

A vane ring assembly includes a lower vane ring (), an upper vane ring (), one or more guide vanes () positioned at least partially between the vane rings, and a spacer () positioned between the lower and upper vane rings () for maintaining a distance between the lower and upper vane rings (). The spacer has a first end () with a first diameter, a second end () with a second diameter, and a middle section () with a third diameter. The third diameter is larger than the first and second diameters. The first and second ends () of the spacer () are inserted at least partially into a first counter bore () and a second counter bore () formed in the lower and upper vane rings (). A nut () and a fastener () running through a central through hole () of the spacer () are used to connect the vane ring assembly to a turbocharger housing. A clearance (c) of greater than e.g. 5% of the fastener diameter is formed between an inside wall () of the spacer () an outside wall () of the metal fastener () to offset any thermal expansion or deformation.

A pair of brackets for hanging a window blind which are both easy to install and to remove and which can be used to facilitate cleaning the blind. Each bracket includes a four-sided structure which, except for its being open on both its top and one of its vertical sides, is generally in the shape of a rectangular prism. Each bracket, which is a mirror image of the other, can be fabricated as single, unitary piece from sheet metal. Folded downwardly from the upper edge of a vertical side panel in this structure is an external flap. The bracket is installed with the use of a single screw whose shank is slip fitted into a slot formed in this flap. Since both the flap and the screw head are hidden behind the vertical side panel, neither the flap nor the screw head can interfere with the subsequent placement of a window blind mounting bar in the bracket. Alternately, prior to hanging the blind, the brackets can be held in place on the distal ends of its mounting bar; and both brackets then slip fitted simultaneously onto their respective mounting screws. To clean the blind, it and both brackets are removed as a unit and taken to a convenient outdoors location where the blind can be washed with running water. Screws or other fasteners protruding from the outside wall of a building spaced apart and oriented for receiving the brackets can be used to temporarily mount this unit and facilitate cleaning the blind.

In accordance with one aspect of the invention, a driver alert system includes a sensor, a windshield wiper of a vehicle, and circuitry. The sensor detects a predetermined condition on the vehicle. The transition-fold means and the guides can be provided with rollers (33, 91). A tape dispenser (27, 92) at the feed end and a cut-off blade (25, 95) at the cut-off end can be provided in accordance with use conditions.

The subject is a slide gate or a slide door. There is a DC electric motor which is battery powered. The source of electricity can be from an AC power source such as 110 or 120 volts. A transformer and a converter change the voltage to about 24 volts and rectify the current from alternating current to direct current. There is the electric motor and gear box combination connecting with a drive pulley. Further, there is a pulley on a spaced-apart post. A cable runs around the two pulleys. The drive pulley is connected to the slide gate or the slide door for moving the gate or door.

A method and apparatus for preparing skived belting ends for joining by means of fasteners, and like products. A guide block is temporarily fastened across the width of the belting, serving as a guide for a chain saw tool. A first side edge portion of the tool slidably engages the guide block while permitting the cutting plane to be transverse to the direction of said width and intersecting with the belting surface to skive it. Thereafter, a second side edge portion of the tool slidably engages the guide block while permitting the cutting plane to be parallel to the direction of said width and intersecting with the belting to cut off an end thereof.
